Sorry about the audio --I recorded it using my phone; I'm trapped on foreign soil away from my trusty Blue Snowball microphone.

I have the CYSPES 2.0 patch which works flawlessly but those added "broadcast" logos like TBT, Canal + and NBCsN are cool. Lastly, what camera settings are you using precisely? I know what you mean man! But you can increase the games speed pretty easily tho in the game menu settings..theres 5 levels... or from a mod to make it insanely fast🤣I prefer it at is slowest setting tho, its pes man..you get mods for almost everything you find a problem. Way back in pes 2010. I made a 90 minute match. As 90 minutes real life. Its was great, to me back to fifa 2000 where 45 minute halfs was still a thing.

Exactly. Way too floaty. Konami really need to study their old games which did curled shots correctly i.e. PES 6. You could do curled shots - top and bottom corners, from inside and outside the box.

Playing the game in manual has opened my eyes in fact I can only play against people who use manual now. What a joy of a game. The difference in passes and animation is so interesting. I strongly recommend manual to everyone. Start against AI then people who use manual You see the difference when you play against pass assist players who just aimlessly knock the ball forward

Thats high praise. It's all about making sure you flow from one section to the other, for instance you find a clip that can link player runs to keepers. Or player momentum to crossing etc.

I'm disappointed you didn't mention the abismal use of Peter Drury and Jim beglin. Arguably the best commentator duo and pes wasted them with far too many repeated lines, not enough story telling and way too little banter between the two like their real life counter parts. I love pes, but fifa uses their commentators better and make Martin Tyler and Alan Smith actually sound like they are watching the game you're playing for example, Martin Tyler will have a conversation with Alan Smith when there isn't a lot of action happening in your game, he'll talk about previous UCL wins of that club or the history of the club etc. Then when you take a shot at goal, he'll break away from the conversation to comment on it and then when the action simmers down, he'll realistically come back to the conversation he didn't finish earlier on.. All this helps make the game feel more realistic and PES really need to redo their commentator script

Very good point, commentary is broken in this game, repeated phrases its doesn't feel real, after couple of matches its start to bother me aswell, even Fifa 2002 world cup has way better commentary than this

I feel like I can let these things slide because they are a smaller team on a smaller budget. It's the same with the lack of licensed kits and logos. The important things to fix are usability (the menus!) and the actual gameplay.

I agree with everything you said and to add to this, the situation where they keep looping phrases on pes and have casual conversations on fifa happens in the brazillian version too. On Pes not only they repeat phrases but also they have recorded the players and clubs names in a different tone than the rest of the comment, which causes odd phrases everytime they try to complete a setence with a name, like "A beautiful goal from - *low voice with no emotion* Suarez"

And it's not like getting a portugués speaking commentator to pronounce the names would be hard or expensive. PES needs to try and focus on the smaller details of the game... Their gameplay is pretty amazing, not perfect but bloody great already, so I feel like they can also turn their attention to the small details of the game

The thing about PES being so realistic is that if (AND HOPEFULLY WHEN) it rises above Fifa people will complain about how "shit" the game is because their first time volley after they did 3 back to back rainbow flicks from 30 yards out go in. I truly believe with a few improvements and the addition of properly backed Pro Clubs mode PES will rise and honestly be one of the best games in the Esports scene. Imagine PES Pro Clubs Esports where you watch 11v11 or even 5v5. It could almost take on the same look as real football when certain players that play in a specific position excel greater than others and are wanted by other esports teams. Football is already a global sport a lot of money could flow towards Football esports if it is ran well.

PES only will surpass FIFA in terms of market when they make MyClub actually good (unfortunately). Ultimate Team is by far the most popular mode on FIFA, but PES alternative to it sucks, especially this year's version, they made it even worse.

Playing with Man Red is just so unappealing and casual people aren't gonna bother with patches. PES 2021 needs; better comentary(its reeeaaly baad) better menu navigation(new look too), more generated AI faces( there are 5 models for heads), if possible more licenses( with patches possible, but not the same for all the lazy people out there), not the same reaction after scoring (feels like every player react the same) If these points are marked out and improved, in my opinion FIFA has nooo chance to get even close!! I think the Free Kicks into the box have vastly improved, in earlier versions i could hardly score a goal from those types of free kicks but now it's just so satisfying to watch the ball curl towards the heads of your jumping players. Fifa is nowhere near PES in terms of gameplay, it's Arcade vs Simulation.

I've never scored a free kick before this version. It's so easy now, but a freekick for the com is better than a penalty because you have no chance to save it. Couple that with dodgy foul detection and its super frustrating.

@@waisonline defending free kick is all about timing wall jump (circle) and manual keeper (L1 + right stick). When playing against a friend on local you can use R2 to stick your target where camera is pointing then bluff another direction. When defending you have to either choose near or far post with your manual keeper. Its just like penalties: thrilling mind games between friends. (:

Things I'd like fixed : 1. Fix player responsiveness, sometimes they act dumb or react too late(worse online) 2. Improve ball lock-on mechanism, especially on controlling high balls and around the touchline 3. More degrees of freedom in dribbling, up the responsiveness a bit (not too much or it'd be floaty like FIFA) 4. Refereeing, omg it's too inconsistent and close to broken. And needs more fouls from AI inside the box 5. Make defending more manual, we don't need X spammers online 6. Fix the physicality, it's a bit too easy to push players off the ball 7. GK positioning is kinda fked 8. Better controls for shooting, passing etc. Lot of things are contextual, we need more freedom. For example, give us a control to choose which foot to shoot from, low driven shots etc 9. Make the nets tighter, need a whole overhaul in kit physics and facial animations

This is the only thing I really disagreed with so I don't know why I put the comment. I like the idea of having different types of passes and shots to choose from. However, I think it would be quite hard to implement with limited controls. I think they should have a shot with the laces as some of the animations look quite awkward, especially when shooting across goal. Whether this includes a low driven shot, I don't mind. Biggest complaints I have on PES: - The goalkeeper's new animations are great, but when a striker make a longshot, they look like in 0.25 speed, like really slow... they start jumping trying to make a save but ball is already in the net lol. - Also, longshots with a little bit of curve doesn't look like a proper ball, instead like a beach ball. Physics don't work well on that. - First touch sometimes seems like the player is constipated, or in a hurry to go to the bathroom. - Dribbling when you are at full speed doesn't look natural, at least when you are changing directions. Things that I love about PES: passing, crossing, heading, tackles, speed of the game, graphics, players occupation on the field...

Brilliant video as always, appreciate your hard work. I did notice the camera angles changing dependant on what stadium you were playing at, very immersive. I've got nesa24's broadcast camera module, have you any tips on some of the inputs for PL stadiums? Also, when you say through lob, do you mean L1+Square or L1+Triangle? I've been really struggling scoring from crosses in this version of PES too. Cheers!

I mean through lob, so that's L1+Triangle... For PL matches, I use real highlights as my reference. There are going to be a lot of low cameras so you need to get used to it.

Tac At advances shooting is amazing once you’ve mastered it. Never forget to use the training feature as well. And also keep playing against the A.I to get accustomed to it (you can start off on lower difficulties and work your way up until you’ve mastered the controls)

Everything you praise is accurate, but those are the things you can control and master over time, like dribbling, passing play and shooting. What PES annoys me are the things out of my control, ridiculous referee, player lack of ball awareness. To enjoy PES you need time to master those passing and dribbling mechanics, but you are fed up with those annoying things before you even master it

I guess that the reason for those issues is mostly because of the game trying to create artificial difficulty to make certain matches harder than they should be. I don't remember suffering with those issues with Pes 4, and it did happen a little in key games of the master league in Pes 6, and we'll say Pes 2017 as the latest offering with less of it. This was terrible in 2018, and still hasn't been completely fixed in 2020.

You're reviews are simply the best, at the very least visually but you definitely do well in showing the finer details of the gameplay. You need a reviewer copy for PES 21

Great Review! Especially on the Defending aspect. There's always a positional aspect to the AI's Defending rather than what kind of danger is in front of them. Also how long did it take to get used to your camera angle? It's fun to watch, but I'm not quite there yet in terms of playing on that camera. The Finesse/Controlled shots... Don't you think they have way too much curve? On the occasion, the ball seems to curl out so much but still ends up finding the pace to curl back into the net. 2:29 The ball magically curves more in the air to find the back of the net, you will see a little spike, in the ball rising, curling and pace, where it should be all at one speed. From what I've watched I'm gonna give Advanced Shooting a try!

PES really gets what makes the beautiful game so beautiful. The animations have actual weight to them, and it feels like it takes effort to score the banger goals that are a dime a dozen in Fifa. Gameplay-wise, the best way I can put it is: FIFA is Need for Speed, PES is Gran Turismo. Konami does need to work on the presentation though. Rework the sound mixing of the game, make the crowd more dynamic, make the turfs and the camera more accurate to the stadiums, etc.

No most mods are just copy and paste into directory but when it comes to stadiums and camera angles you may have to do a little editing But it's not hard

i havent owned PES since like 2003, and ive been mocking it for the longest. But after recent years of EA screwing up Fifa, and me researching more and more about PES, im quite loving it. I'm also diving into the modding world and there are so many mods! I love that too. I might actually get PES next year with the new gen consoles.

you talked about bad a.i. in defense.. maybe its the bad preset tactics and player traits that cause them.. Very well made review. The foul detection in 2020 is like the Germans in Escape to victory. The com can foul with impunity but any tackles you make are called as fouls for no reason. It's maddening!

Best patch mod ever created. Have been sitting back admiring the graphics, love the new nbc scoreboard, another couple of those in quality would be great. A classic league would be good if could ever be included, and definitely more frostbite pitches is the way forward, frostbite pitches for all stadiums!

I have no idea why would someone dislike such a review? He showed the positives, negatives in a great enjoyable way. Well done KnightMD, great effort and nice review. About the game: Overall I really enjoy the game. If only they addressed its flaws it could be the 'best ever' football game. The problem the flaws are really game changer this year, that lead to make you lose/win the whole match because of them. Many times during the review I thought you put a real life football scene 😂 On PC moding is really a powerfull advantage point for PES counted for KNOAMI letting it easy, thankful for the modders who spend a lot of time and spread it for free. The game need to fix what you have reviewed, and also R2/RT (super cancel) still not working properly, many times I need to double/triple it to force it work, and it doesn't work at all most time I don't know why. Also they need to introduce (canceling slide tackle), like in FIFA if you pressed circle/B button (again) during the slide, your player try to stop and get up faster (canceling his slide as fast as possible).

@@joshuakimmich9536 Man, every game this one is needed many times, It's most effect when you try just to block a cross from side, in real life many players do that, slide then fast stand if the opponent didn't cross. Also sometimes you could be able to avoid committing a foul if this feature is availabe. Now, once you slide in wrong time or place you will have to finish it 😁 And I will be happy if they just fixed super cancel for now.

1 vs 1 tackle from behind is correct to be yellow if is in the box. A foul on a running striker committed by the last man of the defence will no longer result in a direct red card and suspension, unless the foul is violent or consists in a hand-ball in the box. As long as the foul is judged to be an honest attempt at taking the ball, the defender will only be shown a yellow card. This has been changed since 2016 if i recall correctly.

Things that are wrong/broken in PES 2020 that I’ve noticed. I’m playing on xbox, mostly ML, superstar difficulty, using advanced shooting (helped me a lot to win against superstar ai), and level 1 passing I think (the last level before manual). 1. Passing is inconsistent, direction and power wise. The amount of power you give and the direction you do on the analog doesn’t always translate to what happens in game. Happened to me where I have a free kick on my half, and I was aiming at my nearest player like literally right in front of fk taker, tapped the pass button, and the ball decided to go to my other player who was farther and was marked. Ended up conceding. 2. Shooting is inaccurate, 1-on-1 situations aiming at bottom corners most of the time ends up going just outside the post, or keepers making superhuman reaction saves, hitting posts of an open goal, etc. 3. You can’t outrun any opponent, you can’t out muscle any opponent, you will never win 50-50 balls. Doesn’t matter if your player has better stats. 4. Don’t get me started with fouls and offsides (your player’s pinky can be called offside). 5. Animations. When the opponent is shielding the ball and your defender just gets stuck behind that opponent. When you try to RT/R2 to let the ball run pass you, but the defender decides to collide with your player and you get no foul. 6. Your players reaction time, movement, turns, passes, runs are so slooooooow. In short they become shit retards. All in all, this boils down to PES’ scripting and cheap bs to make the game “difficult”. I’ve played it enough to be mindful of these things so that I have a chance to win, and also know right at the early minutes of the game when you are destined to lose. Where everything is just not going your way, doesn’t matter if your team is better or not. Had a game conceded 1-0 early on, dominated and turned it around 2-1 at 88th minute, ai decides to score twice within 2 possessions. Fifa and PES both have their bs just different implementations. But yeah I still play PES because it’s more “realistic”.

Like fifa,pes has many flaws too,this game is horrible.The defenders,commentators,passing,reaction time and referees are horrible.MYclub hasn't been improved and just got worst with coins system.The demo has nothing to do with the final game
