This guy sits cross legged handling sharp tools, chemicals without respiratory protection or gloves, he works at machinery that could cause serious injury. What do you think happens to him and his family if he’s hurt? Think he’s compensated or insured? These shoes retail for between 90 and $150.00 how much of that do you think he’s getting? You think this film is about craftsmanship? It’s about exploitation, open your eyes!

Thank you for commenting in details regarding the safety of the workers. The shoe preparations has various stages and there are different artisans for completing their tasks. Accordingly each artisan is selected after going through a long comprehensive training. So there is little or no chance of mishap. Even if it happens it's very very minor injury. And we do have a compensation policy. Regarding the saftey from chemicals of course we will take it into serious consideration. Thank you for that. After all, such artifacts are the result of handmade work. We will keep improving and will preserve the centuries old practice. Your comments are highly valuable and appreciated.

This disregard for worker safety in these videos is shameful...criminal in fact. You would think, if you valued the workmanship of these craftsman as you say, you would protect them at all costs, rather than maximizing your profit by putting them in danger. Full PPE should be provided.
