I used to buy those 40lb bags of feline pine but it was like $22 per bag. A cheaper alternative is to find a feed and tack place that sells horse stall pellets. it's literally the same thing, only you get each bag cheaper for the same amount

Blue Sponge tv With a deep cleaning you should take apart the entire cage and rinse/wipe down the entire thing. Remove everything in it and brush/rinse the perches, and swap out toys and rotate toys and perches. Dry it, put new newspaper down, and refill water and food bowls. Food and water bowls should be deep cleaned several times a week. When I had a cockatiel I took apart her cage and did a deep cleanse like I listed above once a month. I'd take out the newspaper and put new newspaper down daily, and I'd rinse and cleanse her food and water bowl every day or every other day. For an every day cleanup/quick cleanup you just remove and put fresh newspaper down. I forgot to add, during the monthly deep cleanse I used a mixture of 1 part bleach and 9 parts water (sometimes a vinegar and water mix) and sprayed down the cage (I put the collapsed cage in the bathtub during this) then rinsed it thoroughly by turning on the shower head with the hottest water. I brushed the wire sides to remove any feces and debris and to loosen it up prior to rinsing it and after again to get the rest off. Then rinsed it one more time. :)

I'd also clean the bird perches, food/water dishes, and disinfect the bottom bars of the cage as well. Feces can stick to all of those things and breathing it in can cause serious health issues. I'm not saying that you don't do that, it's just a safety precaution.

I use stove wood pellets for my rabbit's litter box. I actually make sure it's not pine (although it's already processed) just because I don't want to take chances with any fumes produced when it reacts with urine like most horse pellets do. The pellets are $4 for 40 lbs and take care of the smell pretty well. I also clean anything using vinegar as it is a more organic solution just if any gets on her hay (Timothy). I might just try the cleaner you mentioned though

lovemefool I just recently found out pine was poisonous to rats after my baby rat died and I'm mad at the breeder I bought him from cuz that's what they gave us when I got him so I'm not sure if I would want to use it again with any of my other pets in fact I actually threw out any remaining pine chips from my rat and also stopped using it in all of my rabbits cages and anything else that I had on live so I hope this was the least bit helpful to u!

Do you use a giant dog cage for Desmond? That's what I was thinking of doing for the Flemish giant I'm thinking of getting, then attaching my play pen to the outside so she can socialize with my other buns (if they get along well. If not, they're holland lops so it wouldn't end well for them and I guess I'd have to buy another play pen😂😪)

You should clean Desmonds cage more often it looked like the litter box hadnt been cleaned in days and you just dumped it out there was still nasty stuff stuck to the bottom which can make them really sick

Dismal Doll I either put my Luci girl around my neck or put her in one of those large critter keepers. That's what most people do. I mostly have her around my neck, because I like to make sure she is ok. But times where I need to quickly get her tank clean, I put her in the critter keeper. She is very adventurous and wants to literally try and get tangled in my hangers in my closet, since that's where her enclosure is. It can be very difficult at times. But I've had her for almost 6 years, so the difficulty I'm use to.

shannon hogle Alfalfa has a very high calcium content which is good for rabbits 6 months or younger. Older than that it may cause calcium slush or stones in the urine... have you tried orchard grass?
