I really wanted to get a ball python as a pet, but my mom comes from a tropical country where snakes kill. She also think it will escape from its cage and strangle someone. I keep telling her that there super nice and they do not constrict. (I'm going to send her this vid and she will change her mind) I've also found a little baby Gardner snake near my elementary school ( it was really chilly) I brought it inside and showed the vice principal. She thought I was adorable so we got it a tank and other stuff so he could stay safe and warm. We named him ribbon.

That's true, and rabbit bites can be nasty especially on your fingers, they can tear them to shreds. If a smallish snake bites you, like the ball python in the video, you would feel it but it doesn't particularly hurt, its just like a 100 pin pricks. Your flesh isn't sliced open like with a rabbit bite.

There was a garden ( Gardner) idk... snake sunning itself on the asphalt at my moms townhouse complex and my moms boyfriend picked it up and put it in the bushes because her neighbour was terrified of it then she started freaking out that he didn't kill it because she thought it was going to get into her house by climbing up her gutter and eat her dog 😂😂 ( thanks, Hollywood). When I came home later that night it was laying on the warm asphalt again. I was worried someone would run over it or try to kill it so I got out of my car and shoed it towards the bushes again. People are so dumb. That particular kind of snake is 100% harmless and doesn't even have teeth.

A few years ago I was with friends and when one of my friends showed up, she had a snake. Up until then, I neither loved or hated snakes. If there was one around I wouldn't got pet it, but I wouldn't run away screaming either. However, said friend thought it'd be funny to shove the snake in my face, and everyone else thought it'd be funny to hold me down while she did so. It was obvious the snake wasn't well taken care of, and therefor most likely formed behavior issues from possible neglect, considering it would constantly bite my friend and overall be very aggressive towards people. So let me just sum this up: I was held down while a very aggressive snake was shoved in my face. Literally right in front of my nose. Since then, I've had a fear of snakes. I know that not all are like that, I know most pet snakes are chill, but that experience really traumatized me. So lately, I've been getting into reptiles, and plan on getting a crested gecko in a few months. I've already decided a long time ago that I want to do something with animals as a career, and as we all know, animals aren't just the cute and fluffy kinds, they include snakes. So I'm currently trying to get over my fear, and am starting to consider getting one. I would just be deathly scared to hold it, but it's something I can work on. I do find them adorable, not scary at all regarding appearance. It's just the fear of holding one and it being close to me that gets to me. So yep, any tips for getting over something like this would be helpful, thanks.

Malek Animal first off take her to a pet store so she can look at snakes. Hold a snake and show her how calm it is. If she's ready, let her pet the snake. She will see that it's not slimy and that it's in fact very smooth. Then let her hold the snake. Tell her how easy it is to care for one (tell her everything about the care of them so she can see that you're ready). Then tell her that they eat mice and rats BUT not alive. I wanted a snake for 3 years. Every day i asked mom for one and she said that i was crazy but now both of us are waiting for our new baby cornsnake! She cant wait to get it!

Ball pythons are relatively large, but no more harmful than corn snakes. Vipers are pretty aggressive and venomous, same for cobras, so that's a bit more rational honestly.

I legit watched this vid while I held our albino corn, Shawnee. My brother wanted a snake about 6 years ago, for his 11th birthday. We volunteered at a nature center at the time, so after confirming how safe and manageable snakes can be as pets with the staff, my parents told my brother to do his research on care and maintenance of a snake and they would think about it. My brother, who hated reading, would check out books from the library and read about snakes, he was dedicated enough. After a little quizzing, my parents deemed him ready. This nature center also often got calls about people who had reptiles for pets, and when the kid went off to college, the parent wouldn’t wanna take care of it and try to get rid of it. They got a call for this albino corn snake the same age as my brother (he was initially looking for a baby) and he said he would take it. Six years later, this adrorable, loving snake is a happy member of our family. (And my parents will work something out with my brother when he goes to college - we’re not the type to just leave our family members, human or otherwise, and neither one is afraid of him at all)

You are so right! Snakes are so misunderstood. My baby (few month old) Fire Enchi Ball Python (Axl Rose) unfortunately passed away this morning due to an internal illness. He was the sweetest little guy. Pet Bizarre (where we purchased him from) were great about it and let me get another one (A Firefly Ball Python- Clint Eastwood 😊). It’s very emotional because you form a trust with these animals and they become your family. I wish people tried to understand these amazing creatures better. Love this video. :)

To be fair, I kind of started off in your boat. I had this weird mixed sense of fear and respect for them, but was leaning more toward fear at the time. But, the more I've learned, the more it helped me get over that fear, and having a friend who owned a snake gave me the chance to see and pet one. Although most of my fear was already gone by that point, that was definitely the point where any that remained, vanished. I think a lot of people get confused when it comes to fear, and think that you're just born brave or scared. The truth is, fear is something to be conquered, with understanding and taking the necessary precautions. Your existing signs of curiosity means you have potential to do this. Just gotta give it time and keep at it. :) I do think that if you ever did manage to conquer it enough to want one as a pet, a ball python would be a perfect choice. Admittedly, part of why I like them so much is that they're so chill and slow moving, so it's easier for me not to get startled by them.

I just got my third snake, a Pinstripe Royal Python, it was a very sudden decision to buy him today, though we have been meaning to get him for a week now - the first time my parents have been so agreeable. He is on me right now while my mum, dad and brother build/set up his cage. I watched your video on how to care for ball pythons before I got him, and I have checked off the list, so thanks for helping me.I have an Argentinian Rainbow Boa who is also a male, and my first snake who was a female Caramel Corn Snake, who are also both awesome.

I absolutely love snakes. My friend had a ball python just like Monty and I loved going to his house to hang out with them. They are such cool animals! I really wish I could have one of my own in the future, but I love rats and mice even more. I am looking forward to having pet rats more than I want to have children. I know I mentally couldn't bring myself to feed a little mouse to a snake though so I think I will have to pass on owning a snake myself. Thanks for making so many videos with Monty! He is adorable.

Loved the video. I already loved snakes, but there's never a bad time for cute animals videos. Also, this remembered me of one time when I was a kid, like, my country has this "institute" (don't know how you'd call it in english) that served both as a reptile and insects zoo and a research place for poisonous animals, and once a week, they'd bring a non-venomous animal for you to hear about it from a researcher and even hold it, it was one of the best experiences of my life =)
