Great job. I actually watched this before the 2nd trailer came out and am glad it confirms your prediction about Ellie. I have a prediction of my own which is that the kids in the mask are actually Jud and his friends burying his dog when he was a kid...Their clothing just seems to match that time period. And I'll bet you the girl wearing the cat mask that Ellie wears later on is Norma. If you've read the book & recall Gage's dialogue when he kills Jud then you'll know that this'll add to that psychological torment. Hope you do another analysis on the second trailer.
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
Film Noir You might just be right about that :-) And I definitely think you are right about the kids in animal masks being flashbacks from an earlier time period, I’ve been hoping this as well. Jud also said in the first trailer, “kids used to dare each other to go into the woods at night”. So I hope the images of those kids (especially the night shot one) is from an earlier time period :-) Never really thought about one of the kids possibly being Jud, but I do like it! ;-) And if Norma somehow is involved in all of that I’m all for it :-) Thank you so much for watching! :-)

The first walk to the Micmac burial ground to bury the cat scared me the most as I read the book. The description of the Windigo crashing through the forest made me keep the lights on all night. A few days later I went to work with friends where we had to camp in the forest in a remote area up on a mountainside. We were cutting down trees in winter for burning in the following fall and reforesting the spring after. One night my campmates left me alone to go get supplies, leaving me alone in a remote forested location all night. I kept a vey large fire going all night and I did not sleep much until morning came, hoping a Windigo didn't come crashing through the forest that night. My hope is they can recreate that part of the story well, especially with the improvement with special effects after 30 years since the last movie.

In the book, when Louis digs Gage up from the cemetary and breaks him out of the coffin, it is very gruesomely described how Louis saw that Gage was sown from his chest all the way up around his neck. And his skull was so badly smashed in that the mortician had stuffed foam-like substance inside his cracked little head, to best try and re-shape things back to “normal”. Some of the stuffing, as I recall, is even described as seen sticking slightly out from underneath his one eye, which is barely there anymore... Yuk! THAT is brutal. THAT sounds like how a 3-4 year old kid would look like after having been smashed head-first by an oncoming truck at High speed! Let’s see something like that within this new film. Go all out, I say, or they shouldn’t have made it to begin with.

Actually I think the jump scare with the truck was well done. The road/trucks were their own character in the book. I felt like this scene as an intro to the biggest, scariest character in the book was more than justified.
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
Bonnie It’s totally cool. You’re allowed to feel that way :-) As I stated very strongly though, for me, that jumpscare was just a cheap way to get a reaction out of someone. I completely agree that the road/trucks are their own scary character in the film, but as I explained and displayed, the sensation and Dark underlying significance of that road/truck was just as clearly stated within the old movie, and they didn’t need any low-blow unnecessary jumpscares to do it. So for me, it’s a weak sign, but there was a bigger message to be heard within that whole “fake jumpscare” bit and that is: I don’t want the movie to rely on them. It’s not needed.
@teresalee4675 жыл бұрын
I agree with Bonnie. To me the way the trees swayed in the background after the truck went by along with the music and the look on the moms face told it all. It seems with every horror movie these days people get all crazy over jumps scares from a trailer. I remember the complaints about pennywise and the jumpscares in the trailer. (pennywise not supopose to move like that. The story is not suppose to be full of jump scares. Blah blah blah. All this before anyone had seen the movie.

It may very well be Ellie because The filmmakers May want the actress to use some of the sexually explicit language that gage uses in the book when he returns from the dead. They may flip the switch and use Ellie because a boy that young probably can’t portray the amount of evil in the book.
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
Perfectly reasonable thought! And I also have been thinking about that exact thing ;-) In the book, when Gage returns, he's throwing out some damn horrific and perverted language towards both Jud, Rachel and Louis! Stuff they never even touched upon in the old movie. So if they're incorporating that in this new version (and they better have the balls to do just that!) it would've been much easier for the filmmakers during shooting of such sequences, to have Ellie speak that vulgar language, instead of a 3 year old kid.

There is another better option for this remake which the directors can pursue that avoids making the change Ellie will die instead of Gage. The remake stays true to the book having Gage die (not Ellie, please no) but Jud hallucinates dead Gage becoming the image of Norma on-screen using the profanity...the audience visually sees the Norma character making the profanity...when in reality it was Gage who used the profanity. In the book we saw Gage on screen use it...but also in the book Rachel did hallucinate Gage in the form of her dead sister Zelda (for example, "never get out of bed again..."). The reason this idea would work better is it stays 100% true to the Gage story while sparing the audience the discomfort of directly seeing Gage use the obscenities.

I'm three minutes into your video. You've gotten me so hyped, man! I, too, absolutely adore the Pet Sematary book, in fact it's probably my single favourite book ever. I saw the movie before I read the bookand it really messed me up as I was a kid. About five years later I then also read the book for the first time (still a kid). While I love the movie, it really doesn't hold a candle to the book. And don't get me wrong, I love the original Pet Sematary film. Nostalgia might play a big part here but it is still definitely the scariest movie I've ever seen and among only two that ever truly frightened me (the second one was Candyman which I saw when I was 10). While the movie doesn't have great acting and has a pretty bad script, it's shot quite beautifully, the makeup artists did a fantastic job and the horror atmosphere is incredible. Still, compared to the book I believe it leaves a whole lot to be desired, as the book is so so much more. If the movie creators are really trying to make an adaptation more true to the book and it's actually good, I really can't wait for it. However I've seen the trailer of the film and to me it looked like a pretty generic looking 2010s horror movie, with all the silly edginess and digital colour filter etc. I mean, what was up with those stupid kids in masks walking around playing drums? There was nothing in the book like that; the kids just buried their animals. We'll see though. I guess I should have waited to finish watching your vid before making this comment but 3 minutes in I just had to voice my opinion on how I currently feel. Now to complete your analysis! :)

You got a point with the Gage-Ellie swap. In the original movie (and i believe in the novel, although it's been some time since I read it) Ellie seemed younger, like around 5 or so, when Victor comes to her, she pronounces his name wrong and calls him Paxcow instead of Pascow, now, it would make more sense with a swap being that Gage is the younger one to be mispronouncing Pascow as Paxcow, rather than Ellie who seems to be around 8 years old this time around, or let's say she's even 10....... Gage would seem more likely to mispronounce Victor's last name like that IMHO. Small detail, but just something I thought of.

I really hope Norma is in this movie, as well. If Ellie, however, is the one the Wendigo possesses, they could probably get away with the book altercation between the corpse and Jud.

I have been considering doing an analysis video on this trailer on my other channel but what’s the point now? You killed it man. I’m not sure about the swapping of Gage for Ellie; however, if your prediction is correct, I agree that it will only add to the layers of heartache, despair and inevitably horror and dread. I haven’t read the book since my senior year of high school but one of the scenes I hope they spend more time on is Judd’s dog Spot. If I remember correctly, King, through the younger Judd, describes Spot’s tongue as having the cold feel and texture as that of a fish. Not sure why but that entire section of the book was far more disturbing than the way the old movie depicted Spot. I plan to rewatch this new trailer and I may add a few more thoughts later when I’m not so rushed. All in all, Bravo sir.

Zach Byrd Adventure Hour Thanks a lot for the kind words man!! Again, I’m not saying that you or any one else have to like the idea of them switching the function between Ellie and Gage. Gage in the book says some truly disturbing and nasty things when returning from the grave, something that they never even touched upon in the old movie. If they incorporate that into this new version, it would be a hell of a lot easier for the filmmakers to have the girl playing Ellie speak such words than that of the little kid playing Gage :-) We’ll see if stuff in the next trailer completely destroys every theory I touched upon in my video, could very well end up being the case :-) We’ll find out soon enough I’m sure :-) Thank you so much for even watching my video!! I feel like they couldn’t possibly use Ellie because one of the great things about this story is precisely that it’s a toddler, of all things, who is the horrormonger. Killer kids ‘of an age’ we’ve seen a bagillion times over, and that trend will continue on to infinity, but a killer toddler is exciting and effective in how rare and shocking it is, and the well-crafted application thereof is one of the very things that make ‘Pet Sematary’ so lovelily unique.

But then she wipes her eyes and what was first seen as Zelda turned out to be Gage.. It will propably be something similar in the new film. After seeing all of the trailers so far, I must say I disagree with you on the part about the woman in the rocking chair not being a scary scene. In fact, I think it will be an extremely terrifying moment and ill explain why: In the novel and original movie, after Gage's death, Jud comes to Lou's house in the middle of the night to dissuade him from buying his son in the Burial Ground by telling Lou a story about a friend of his named Bill Baterman, who's son Timmy was killed in 1943 in Italy during WW2. Bill burid his son in the Burial Ground and the results weren't pretty. Well, think about it: If this movie takes place during the modern day, than Jud wouldn't have even been alive during WW2 and even if he was, he couldn't have been older than ten at the most(John Lithgow was born in October of 1945, for what its worth.) So thats something else that will likely be adapted out from this verson. Instead, Jud will likely tell a different story, one about how his wife died long ago, and he burid her in the Burial Ground, and all the horror that came with it.
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
SdM45 That is so funny cause after watching the 2’nd trailer I’ve been thinking this too!!! Also because I just read something new (I’ll explain below) After the 2’nd trailer hit I also began to question that scene with the lady in the rocking chair and if it would be a sad moment or a scary one. But in the new light of things I began thinking the EXACT same thing as you! :-) Right after the second trailer hit I actually began creating a new video, talking about where I now stand after the new trailer has been released. It’s not half as fancy a video as the first and not that long of a video either. It’s basically just me reviewing the new trailer and updating on my thoughts. One of them being that I too now think Jud buried his wife up on the MicMac burial Ground and that instead of the Timmy Baterman story, we get a dead Norma story instead. Alongside the new trailer, the filmmakers also released new interviews too. I read them, and in these there’s a segment where they talk about this new version of Jud and the very Dark secrets of his past that slowly gets revealed to Louis throughout the movie. When I read that I started thinking about the idea that Jud buried Norma up there and eventually tells Louis that story. So I think you’re absolutely right here! ;-)

I think you´re right about Ellie. There is one other detail I noticed before watching your entire video and I thought: "holy moly you´re right": when you reveal your theory they are at the dinner table. Look at the frame/painting/poster hanging slightly behind Ellie: butterflies (that classic ones that tells you different types of butterflies). Now the butterfly is an almost universal symbol of change, any change, bad or good, just change. Now...take a look at her sweater as she stands by Jud in the Pet Sematary.....butterflies. Funeral scene: yupp. I was not sure that was Rachel (still arent sure but who else could it be standing beside her husband) They would also not bring Gage to any funeral no matter who died since he is too young (to understand or benefit from it). Gages funeral in book or movie is the only one Rachel ever attends. Also the scene with Pascow standing when Rachel holds Gage: I think it would be enough for Gage to just say "Paxcow. Paxcow" if they forshadow it right. He does not need to be as articulate as Ellie was in the book. Rachel would get it since Gage would have no way remembering hearing about Pascow. Also a theory of mine, nothing to do with the trailer but: in the book: (Short theory version): Jud was born 1900. Jud buries Spot time one 1910. Second time 1914 alt according to Louis 1917 (war begun in Europe). Creeds move in 1983. Jud says, on their way to bury Church, that it was about twelve years ago he was last beyond the deadfall (you know the drill). Later he says "Seventy years go by and I take you" meaning taking Louis to bury Chruch. The place only let you in when you lead someone to bury or is about to bury someone on your own if you already been there (Juds dad for ref): so what the heck did Jud do up there twelve years ago? Maybe it is not artithis Norma has....maybe in this version: had. Ellie being psychic triggers the power (when she climbs the deadfall and falls) that is why this family is hit the hardest, it gets stronger because of Ellies "shinning". In this verion maybe it is Ellie it wants. Also: Pascow in the book might just be "Kids do as you do, not what you tell them do do/not do"- meaning the wendigo/power basically uses Pascow to lure Loius in. It can reach Louis that far because of Ellie. What do you think?
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
EmberWolfsArt Very sharp observations and even some of them I never thought of :-) Regarding the butterflies, honest to God, I DID actually make the connection between the painting on the wall and the ones on Ellies T-shirt, but really didn’t know exactly what to make of it, so I left it out. But what you mention about it seems pretty spot on :-)
@EmberWolfsArt5 жыл бұрын
@@ChristianKrogh-Denmark Thanks ^^. I believe you, I actually waited for you to mention it in the video. I honestly did not watch the trailer closely until now because of the very reason you describe: I did not want any spoilers even though I know this story inside out, cause trailers today often give too much away. Your theory has me even more hyped (in a good way) for this adaption and the butterflies makes me hopeful for this being the case....uhm not that I in any way want Ellie or Gage to die but they are fictional characters and it is the message of the story that is important. I also think that the person climbing out of the laundry-shoot could be Ellie (same thing as with the scalpel: the proportions match).

Couldn't agree more with your initial impression of the trailer. Got some apprehensions in relation to your opinion to the possible new twist with ellie and gage. Though I do dissagree with you in some respects. I think Pascow in the room is from his and Louis' walk in the woods rather than a "daddy is doing something bad" nightmare because I don't believe Rachel ever has an encounter with Pascow. As evidenced by her lack of reaction to him in the room when she turns around. I couldn't find your wristwatch scene in the trailer to confirm my suspicions but when your video zooms in at 29:48 you read the second hand as the hour hand it's actually 1:17. Whether that proves relevant come April who knows. But good video, enjoyed it.

Stephen Jiron The watch definitely says 11:05 my friend. I studied this closely on my 65 inch 4K TV at home with an absolute clear visual. I don’t read the 2’nd hand wrong, no. The smallest of them is clearly seen on 11 and the bit longer one on 05. The 3’rd and longest is placed at the 15 second mark. I was very careful to be sure, wouldn’t have put it in there otherwise. And the Picture I use to prove that point was a high-res photo scanned from EW movie Magazine, but it is indeed from that same scene within the trailer, where we only get a quick glance at it though. I still definitely believe that Rachel seeing Pascow is from the last part of the movie, just as I explained, all the pieces just fit. By the way... ready for this... I learned just 2 weeks back, long after I had made and posted this video, that a leaked (3’rd rewrite though, not the final) script for this very movie is indeed floating around out there, and within it, surprise surpise - Ellie is dying, not Gage.. so just prepare for this being a very strong possibility. I wasn't going completely off size. So with some wrist watches they have the glow in dark faces on the hands so its white trimmed with gold for the hrs and mins. While the second would simply a gold pin. Short is at 1, the long is at 3 and the pin is at 11.... Or so it appears. I don't mean to give you grief. Cause really If it is the grave digging scene it makes no difference what time ol Louis get's up to his hijinks. The coffin could have been the guy that Louis try’s to save at the hospital?
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
It’s not. I’m sorry but it’s just not. I don’t mean this in a smartass way my friend, but you really need to look at the whole picture, and I did my homework from every angle. If you saw the entire video I somewhat doubt that you would’ve suggested this was Victor :-) It’s not Victor Pascow, for many reasons and I list them for you below: 1: Why would Louis and Rachel go to a funural for a kid they never knew and someone Louis never met untill he was brought into his medical office with his skull cracked open? Doctors just don’t go to their patients funurals, dragging their wife with them who never even met this person. Didn’t happen in the book, didn’t happen in the old movie and it won’t happen here either. Makes no sense. 2: Why in the world would Louis and Rachel stand up right in front of the coffin (where’s Victors family?) and why would their friend Jud be there to begin with? He doesn’t have a clue who this guy is. 3: Victor Pascow is a Black kid in this film. Look at the Picture from the funural. There isn’t one single Black person attending that funural. 4: As I did mention in tons of different ways in the video, analyzing it from all angles, that coffin is simply not big enough to house a grown up. It’s way too big for Gage, and it’s way too little for a grown up. It’s not Missy Dandridge, it’s not Norma and it’s not Victor, doesn’t make sense in any shape or form. Now more than ever I am convinced that I’m actually right about this. I’ve later on, after this video was made, also learned of leaked scripts where in it does indeed happen - Ellie is gonna die this time around. It’s gonna happen dude.

And btw the casket is at an angle giving a false measurement. It's probably either norma or missy
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching :-) As I said in the video, even if the measurement isn’t 110% accurate, in that case it’s still enough to judge by. While I also know that the coffin is at a slight angle, it’s still close enough for it to be judged, when pairing Ellie up beside her father and looking at the physical size of things. I do not mean the following question in a smartass way, I’m simply asking: Did you actually watch the whole video? Cause I know that I did my homework very well :-) As explained and analyzed in the video, regarding that whole funural thing, then No, it is not Missy, cause unless she’s a dwarf she wouldn’t fit inside that coffin. And if she’d be any higher than Ellie she also wouldn’t fit. And if it was Norma in there, Jud would NOT be standing way in the back, as I also showed in the video. In the case of his dead wife, he’d be right up in front BY her coffin, where funny enough Louis and Rachel instead stands. No matter the scenario (if it was Norma or missy) something just doesn’t fit about it - one can’t ignore that :-) Now, do not misunderstand me, cause I don’t wanna be right just for the sake of being right. I’m not even sure that they can make it work with Ellie dying instead of Gage, heck, I’m not even sure that I’m gonna like it when I see it. But there really are a lot of things in that trailer that don’t add up when truly looking at what is right in your face :-) I’m not saying people have to like the idea, I’m simply saying that there’s a strong possibility that it could happen... and here’s something else for you. I found out just 4 days ago, that a leaked script for this very film (not the final script, but still the 3’rd rewrite) is indeed floating around out there. Someone on this very messageboard linked it to me. I refuse to read it, but he did confirm to me that within that script, as I was suspecting, it IS Ellie dying and not Gage. I never even knew there was a leaked script! All these speculations first came to me after I saw the trailer a couple of times. Now, more than ever, it would appear that I actually seem to be right about this. So I’m just saying dude, prepare for the strong possibility that Ellie Creed will get smashed by a truck in this version.

I don't want Ellie to be killed! In the book, Gage's coffin is described as a dwarf coffin and not a child's coffin. I know dwarves can be children but I kind of think it was a coffin for a small adult. The flowers at the funeral in this movie are yellow and blue for a boy. If it was a young girl who died, the flowers would be yellow and pink or purple even. This coffin looks like a dwarf coffin to me! Gage was described as a husky little boy and his hands could be rather big. The teddy bear clinches it for me as belonging to Gage who died.
@ChristianKrogh-Denmark5 жыл бұрын
Sharon Hainline A friendly advice: You need to prepare your self for the strong possibility that Ellie most likely will die this time around. I did my homework regarding this whole video. Also, if that wasn’t enough, I learned just 3 days ago, that a leaked script for this very film is indeed floating around out there. Someone on this very message board linked it to me yesterday. And while not being the final script, it was still the 3’rd rewrite, and guess what, I was right - Ellie is the one dying in that script.. I’m not saying you have to like it, I’m just saying that you need to prepare for it.

Christian, Ellie's death will be one of 2 things: fans and Stephen King will either like the idea or they will hate it and the movie will bomb. SK did like the ending of "The Mist" movie with Thomas Jane's character killing his small son and the three other people he and the boy escaped with. The book had them escaping the mist and going on the run. I want to see this new movie and I hope if they kill Ellie instead of Gage gives this classic story a new spin. Maybe it will do very well or people will call it "Pet Sematary 2019: How to Raise and Care for Your Zombie Daughter."
@sharonhainline5895 жыл бұрын
Christian, you're right about Ellie! They showed the funeral scene with the too big coffin for Gage but the right size for Ellie. The light pink flowers on the coffin clinch it for me! I do want to see the movie and it might be an interesting change to King's book and classic movie. I wonder if SK was thinking, "Ellie dies? It might make the story better."

If there ever is a justifiable reason for a jump scare that truck scene isn’t the worst thing. The trailer disappointed me because it looked like a shot by shot remake. Now it’s likely the only real twist is the daughter gets hit by the truck instead of the little boy, to that I say meh, just as lame as gender swap remakes.

BUT I do feel, after watching the trailer here (while it's clearly not the book, it's something new) that the film shows some promise in new ways. The thought of a father and mother living with something that CLEARLY isn't their child and how they deal with such a trauma is quite disturbing to me.
