I got turned onto this dude a few weeks ago and I’m sure glad I did. He’s helped my approach allot. Sometimes when I play I either get to bogged down with note selection and theory, then other times I’ll just mindlessly noodle around in standard blues and pentatonic boxes. This guy made me get back to realizing the guitar is a sound machine and to make the sounds that naturally come out playing completely freely. I feel like I understand him thru his playing and man that’s a big compliment. That’s really bigger than saying somebody’s a great player, or a technical virtuoso. I actually think I know what this dude is all about Just from his playing and that’s amazing. Another thing is looking at the people there everybody has on jeans, Dr Martens and like a leather jacket or a flannel or something. As a Child of the 90‘s im down with that!

As a guitarist i usually always notice peoples hands. I know allot of other guitarists who do the same. It’s like a fetish minus the sexual part lol. Anyway most guitarists want bigger hands and allot use their hand size as an excuse. I have large hands so i don’t have that excuse so I’ll try another one lol. I wonder if Hand shape has an impact on playing? When I look at his hands they’re almost square. All his fingers are roughly the same length. My fingers are all very different lengths and my pinky is considerably shorter than the rest of my fingers. I find it hard to grab bass notes with it when my ring finger is already planted somewhere. Even tho my pinky finger is likely bigger than his, in relation to my other fingers it’s smaller so when those other fingers are planted it leaves my pinky too short to move up. Basically in a standard E minor bar chord I can pinky the minor 3rds and 7ths on the E and B strings, but it’s impossible for me to add the minor 3rd or minor 6th on the E and A strings with my pinky. Long winded I know, but my point was guitarists always look at hands and it’s usually always hand size and I was always that way too, but you can see his hands are not large but they are shaped very differently at (least from mine).
