Now and then comes a time, when these words hit me very hard and ring true to me. I had so many situations im my life where I felt like that. Getting my heart involved where it shouldn't cause the high of being with someone - even if it maybe will never lead to where you want it - is so strong, then the reality hits you at 3:20 when Neil looks at you and you feel his words piercing: You never felt that jealous of the person who seems to be the owner of the heart of the one you love as well and it's all cause you met that person. I am and always was very thankful for meeting these people, I would never give that up even though it hurts like hell in the aftermath.

I love the story behind the song. Neil explains it in the further listening booklet of Behaviour. Apparently it was the first song Chris ever constructed. Chris wanted the lyrics to be suitably intense so Neil started writing them about a best friend of his who became jealous when Neil met Chris and they started spending lots of time together. Then it became about unrequited love. They re-recorded the track with an orchestra for the single release. It was also remixed to sound more electronic. A PSB classic.

Jealousy. Such a human emotion, especially a manifestation of love not many would admit to. But this song is so true to the feeling. And so effortlessly told (or so it would seem from the end result. I can understand the blood, sweat and tears that may have gone into making it.)

It makes you feel out of control- because all of the above is hinged on someone that can make, break, discard or exploit any of it at anytime. Jealousy is base. It’s not an emotion. It’s a monster that has no business in anyone’s life. This song is beautiful and beautifully sung should of been a massive song. Went too see them at Wembley arena when this was out in 1991 I won my tickets with the newspaper daily mirror the performance tour. I remember talking with other fans after the show most of them predicting pet shop boys only have a couple of years left before splitting up how wrong they were they came back with "very" and are still going strong 27 years later.
