Some 80's songs give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia.. This is definitely one of them.

Anyone 50 and over had a good decade in the 80s. No mobiles as such but everyone knew where everyone was. No Internet , good music ,big hair ,mullets and good vibes. Total opposite of today.

I am 52 , now and I would say that the 80's sound was defined by a few voices, one of which is the PSB....original, dreamy and melodic with just the right blend of harmonies and technologically influenced loops. It defined a generation and an era. I still love listening to them every week. earlier stuff is the best!

It did get into the Top 20 in the UK in March/April 1986,as the follow-up to the number 1 hit West End Girls. At the time the TV news and press were full of the engagement of Randy Andy and Fergie, which is bound to be seen in a completely different light now to how it was then in the light of recent scandals.

@@csb7376 True. The next single they put out was Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money) that summer, and I'm about to play that one on the gradual chronological crawl through the 80s I'm on. It reached number 11 in June 1986,but they trumped that by getting to number 8 for two weeks in mid-to-late October with Suburbia.

Having left home at a young age from an abusive house in 1985 and moving overseas, I felt alone and invisible. These guys and their music spoke to me and acknowledged my pain. "King's Cross", in particular, made me realize the reality of my situation - that I would never be loved at home, and that I couldn't go back. At least, I knew that I was not alone in the world, and that there were others who were feeling the same way. I was 18. I'm 56 now, and I will be forever grateful for their music. Thank you Neil and Chris❤

Love Comes Quickly was released as a single after the album was released, and I think a lot of people had already bought the album, so didn't bother to buy the single. It did do extremely well in the 12 inch vinyl charts however, and there was also a limited edition released featuring a huge, oversized label - which I'm lucky enough to own :D

When West End Girl first came out, I immediately fell in love with this genius SynthPop duo. It was so fresh and different. When they released Love Comes Quickly as the second single, I knew I would be a fan. And I’ve been listening to them, all their releases since. They have too many masterpieces to name, but this will have to be my favourite. It’s just perfect. The trumpet or clarinet sound towards the end, which is more prominent in the 12” version, was hauntingly beautiful. Listening to it now more than 35 years later, it’s almost heart-achingly nostalgic. Pet Shop Boys, it’s been a pleasurable and memorable musical journey ❤

Currently might be the worst music era, and we (old people like me 43 y/o) know it will get worse and worse. But we lived those good times, we can always go back in time and re-live the 80's and even find out something you missed from another country that you didn't know but the maginal 80's made music so great at so many places on earth that the possibilities are infinite.

Omg when I was 43 I was still burning my candles at both ends working, partying, talking names, and metaphorically kicking ass. I'm 67 now. I still feel young inside my head, but my body can't do all the things it used to do and simply bounce back. Guess I should have payed closer attention to my health.

He was the perfect gentleman. It was a pleasure to meet him and talk to him. Back in Germany all my platoon had the Introspective CD. I told him so. Believe me, he is a lovely unassuming man he has time for people. Thank you Neil for not destroying my illusion of you. I still love your music
