I am loving the daily videos -- having a crazy week at work and I swear this is the only wholesome content in my morning notifications -- but I understand if the pace (or the ROI) is concerning. Do you ever discipline Maeve? Can you even discipline a toucan? Like if she does something you don't want her to do, such as steal your glasses, do you redirect her or anything? I HIGHLY doubt Toupac would ever need any kind of discipline since he just likes to chill.

When he rubs his beak on that basket he is cleaning his beak. I have a hanging parrot and a crested mynah and they also have the same diet as a toucan. Have you tried giving them papayas? I live in the Philippines so I have access to more fruits that what is available there in the US

Where do you find so many things with toucans? I like toucans a lot, but I can’t really ever find anything with toucans on them. Do you have any recommendations?

I think googling academic articles about them might be your best bet. I can never find much about them either. As much as i love parrots, that seems to be all i can ever find! I found another channel with a toucan owner but that was so long ago. Idk if she still even has them as i didn’t watch alot. I just remember her Toco had a fucked up beak (it was cracked and shattered in several spots. No idea why).

There are a few short clips in some documentaries about them sometimes but it's usually pretty basic info. A lot of the knowledge I have comes from the Oxford book 'toucans, aracaris and honeyguides'. I've also purchased a lot of out of print field journals from decades ago- but there are also many thesis and papers written by ornithologists and other biologists about them but they're hard to find and hard to read. It's less David attenborough and more extremely detailed studies and observations of individual birds in the wild and captivity. Like half the info is just the birds weight and things like that. There are also some archived articles from magazines from the 60-90s when Toucan's first started coming into captivity properly that adds a lot of context and impressions that have been very useful. And I know a lot of people who work with them for a living or have kept them for a long time as well. Thankfully my ability to network and obsess over searching for information has helped tremendously with keeping the birds.

lol saves her from walking XD or rather flying by her ridding on u.. also animals can sense emotions of sorts so may be possibley for her to sense ur love for toucans and may sense you still are missing Ripley possibley? just a thought but im sure we all miss ripley :) but either way animals have their super power which would be sensing what we may feel.

they also feel viberations of our voice as well but not sure with toucans i know dogs can sense the viberations in our voice and also suppofly read our facial expressions somewhat a bit weird but again cool :).
