You are an amazing artist, you take coloring to a whole new level. I recently purchased the Creative Cats coloring book but haven't started using it yet. I never thought about shading, etc. I never realized coloring today was an art in itself, I thought it was the same as when we were kids, just trying to stay in the lines. You've opened my eyes to a new world of art and I'm excited to give it a try. I can only hope to have some of your talent.

Hi Peta, Very COOL video and review. I CANNOT wait to get the Cats book!! I have several books & Just rec'd today Fanciful Faces...and it is as GORGEOUS as the Cats book. Also the pages your colored are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! I esp DIG that you used different mediums..pens, pencils, markers, etc. It looks like a FAB way to get all the details to stand out better and also add lots of definition to a page. My favorite review of yours yet, partly as I adore cats, and I'm anxiously waiting for this book to arrive from The Book Depo, now even more anxiously ! Love the idea of mixed media, I'm brand new to adult coloring, and have been studying up online, so to speak, on tutorials etc, as I don't want to just mindlessly color in, but create something special as you've done in your books. I bought this one, so it's nice to see what you've done with it, to inspire me to get back to it. I found myself a bit annoyed, as a cat lover, that the cats had such similar faces and such stiff poses. They really are just vessels for the art elements arround them, rather than full, physically interacting characters of difforent visual kinds of cat. Bringing such cats to life felt like a worthwhile and accessible challenge, however, since, giving this simple style life and making them feel interestingly diferent from one-another really is a job for the colourist. On the steampuck kitty you couloured, I went for a copper and aqua emphasis, since it can be hard to do steampuck if you get bored staying with too much brown. That worked well too. Thanks. It's so awesome to see the dirrection someone else goes with this one and gets me returning to it.

I did it! I bought an adult coloring book yesterday!! You convinced me. As a crazy cat lady I'd have loved to get a cat one but the only cat one I could find wasn't great, it was actually a bit child-like the designs and stuff.. so I got a meditation one filled with Mandalas (put pic of the book I got on my instagram) and I already colored in my first design. It definitely released some creativity and helped my mind to calm.

I love the idea of using different media. I used to do that many years ago when I was very into rubber stamp art, but I hadn't thought of using different media for coloring. It's been either the medium of marker or the medium of colored pencil. I'm definitely going to try mixed media for my coloring pages!

I got my Creative Cats Coloring Book for Christmas last year from my sister Jessie because she found it at Walmart and I really like the coloring book that has some beautiful designs on the inside of the book that I can color!

Oh I really do hope you will do a picture with just gel pens like you said, I would love that! I have a huge collection as well that I mostly use for card making, but as much as I want to use em for colouring I am a bit scared of ruining the pictures since the ink flows rather heavily with gel pens. Please please do a video on that!

I love the Sharpies and the Bic Mark it markers, too! Have you seen the Bic 36 pack? That one is even more lovely! More shades of the secondary colors, although, it is a bit more but totally worth it! And the Dog book is out now! It is a really nice book!

I've just bought this book, so of course I came to see what you've done in it, and I love all the pictures you've coloured!! .. Where you've used markers that have bled through, I just wanted to share a tip.. Instead of using paper between the pages, If you've got a laminator, you can laminate a piece of card ( I have lots of laminated signs I've made for my work, which gave me the idea) and you have an impermeable barrier between pages.. which makes me feel more relaxed not having to keep checking lol. Hope this may be useful to anyone xx

Peta, I would love to see a video showing all your artist' tools. (gel pens, best markers that don't bleed, colored pencils, watercolors & brush pens?, etc...) Perhaps provide us with brand names that you prefer and brands that we should steer clear from. (Just an idea for a video) Thanks for sharing. Love your videos! :)

I bought the owl book and i've used faber castel pencils, but the paper was too smooth (?), I thought a bit more roughness on the paper would help catch more pigment. I also used sharpies on some pages and they do bleed through (I also put a paper in between pages to protect the next page), but aside from the bleed through, I noticed that the thin pages of the book had little crumbling when it dried. I hope you understand me as English is not my first language. :) But I love your coloring, I will definitely get this book next! More power to you and your channel! ♥

Oh yes! please please do a tutorial or several with gel pens, you dont really seem to see those on youtube and I love gel pens and love your work so would enjoy a combination of both.

Hi Gil. I have insane amount of gel pens but I tend to use them in heavily detailed pattern work as I don't really like to use them on large areas. I am still learning how to blend with them so I'll hold off a video until I am confident using them.

Peta, thank you for this review. Yur art is beautiful. Should I want to put the finished page in my art journal what would you recommend I do in order to adhesive the page with a gel medium! Do I need to use a spray fixative befor applying the gel medium as I'm thinking it will move some of the colors. Also have y used Zig Clean Color Markers in any of your coloring books? I love them. Do u prep TH page to take the water colors beforehand?

+Ella Conner Excellent question, Ella. :) I would feel reluctant to add the amount of wetness to the page you would require with gel medium or modge podge or any of those other methods... firstly because i would be worried that wetting the page would damage the colouring and also because the page would warp and buckle and most likely dry rippled. I think i would get double sided craft tape and run it along the edges of the page and stick it in. No wetness equals no buckling. The craft tape should hold very well. You can buy the tape at craft stores and art supply stores. Hope this helps. I don't own any of the zig markers, sadly. But i would love to try them. :)

Don,t you find Prisma colour pencils and polychromos leads quite thick.I bought myself the full set of prisma colour and I do like them,they are easier to blend than the polychromos,however they are not the best medium for tight spaces.

my Polychromos pencils hold a very fine point. The prisma colors do not.
