The 'Scarangar' bus is very groovy. Would re-powering it with a more modern (e.g. Cummins 24valve 5.9 litre turbo diseasel, and a more leggy final drive for a few more MPH and MPG) be an idea, or would that alter the DVLA classification of the bus? Would the brakes be up to moar powarrrr? Also, love the voice over. "BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNURRRRGH.' Oh, and the Scarangar bus has been very well done. Unlike the recent Routemaster that is field-bound, which someone made look like a mobile vajazzle, this one has been done tastefully. The decor is neat & clean, retains the period seating and the upholstery upstairs in light green vinyl on the seats looks period. As do the enamel mugs, wood fittings, etc. Very well done to the bloke who has done this project. 👍

Great video & loved the 1959 Bristol Lodekka & lovely seeing it in Cornwall … stayed in Perranporth on several occasions & my daughter Lisa had initial Surfboarding lessons there as a young teenager! Had the Lodekka been green .. she would have felt at home down there as back in the day Western National operated a fleet of them down there .. but she looks lovely in white & what they have done to the interior is amazing & yet she retains so many original features & overall look from the outside .. well done to Tim for that!

Another fascinating video Pete, remember back in the early 1960’s right into the 1970’s, Eastern National were using those Lodekka’s on a number of local routes, wish those days would come back on my old favourite 262 Hornbeam Close to Bishops Hall Est.

I took a Bristol Lodekker to europe in the early 80's , 15 countries in 14 days jobbie , upstairs bunks and downstairs kitchen and seating with Asian students for a summer of touring , by gorr you need decent biceps to turn that steering , brilliant fun

@@PeteAndHisBus it was , but ruddy hard work too , hosepipe from the kitchen through the lower salon , over my shoulder and along the window channel to drip water behind the coweling over the radiator to stop it overheating going up the Brenner pass twixt Austria and Italy , had to stop halfway to refill the water tank.But definitely an unforgettable summer ❤

You could swear the sound was part of their design brief, yet were very smooth. Leylands tended to be noisier and more raucous. AECs were civilised. Damn pity ACV supposedly merged with them. It was really a takeover.

Bristol was OPN807 new into Brighton, Hove and District, the Tilling Group operator that was part of the BATS (Brighton Area) Scheme with BET's Southdown and Brighton Corporation. Spent some years with Michael Dryhurst in Preservation. It reminds me of the Lodekkas that Top Deck Travel used in the 1980s for European and Similar tours, The Lodekka being more useful than the Leyland Titans/ RT etc Regents due to its designed lower overall height in Europe while still having decent ceiling hieght

Really enjoying the series. Watching your videos is always a treat. I am a Bristol fan too, so this was fun. Would have loved to have had a bit of the sound of it running on the road, though that might have been difficult to achieve as the lower deck is largely blocked off. Given RM843 was parked up because of a starting problem one can see how its going to be a head scratcher to get it going now. Its poss something either very simple being overlooked , or really complicated (how complex can a AEC Engine get ? ). Given its 30years nearly since withdrawal from normal service its not too bad !

@@PeteAndHisBus I wrote the comment before I saw it appears to be the wiring to the starter motor. I was once walking along the road (I live in a long cul-de-sac, and I found two bolts, then two nuts, thinking "they look interesting, I might have a use for them". Anyway attempted to start the car (which I had just re-built), and there was an odd noise and nothing, the starter motor appeared not to be freeing up and was jammed to the flywheel, pushing the car onto a kerb on one side ( saved using axle stand ) I noticed the starter motor had dropped and the bolts and nuts securing to bell housing were missing. I then realised those I had found were those missing ones, popped them back in and this time did them up more than finger tight (with the spring washer on the correct flange side) ! Funny thing was my son did the same 20 years later on same model of car - I used it for his wedding, it took the bridesmaids to the church, but wouldnt start for the return- which was me only as the wedding party had hired a Leyland PD3 (?) ex Leeds Corporation - which itself got lost going to the hotel but that is another story. I collected the car and did the bolt refixing the following day at the church car park
