Great guitarist. It’s a shame he never hit it big after Yes. I always loved his style.

Pete's guitar always sounded the most pleasant, Survival, Somethings Comin, Hello solo by Lionel Richie and the later version of Astral Traveller instrumental

Awsome track, too most ,an obscure musical footnote,Peter never really enjoyed the fame he should have, too bad he just couldn't find the right circumstance to share his enormous talent with more of the world ,his passing in 2007 was largley un noticed...

Pete Banks has a very sneaky style to guitar - really sort of a frank zappa style of his own.

I purchased everything PETE on album ( 2 YES, 3 FLASH, TWO SIDES solo ) did in one year, 1973, before the solo stuff and EMPIRE came out. In one of the YES tomes, the producer of TIME & A WORD, TONY COLTON, friend of Jon Anderson, clashed with Pete. PETER did not like having his guitar parts substituted with orchestra melodies. This may have overflowed post album, with Jon Pressing for Pete's end with YES. I had heard that Jon according to Pete actually called him, around 2010, but a musical connection was never reached...

I loved the Yes stuff with him.I thought they should have ditched Anderson and got Roger Chapman or Chris Farlowe.

Great song! Is this from Guitar Workshop Vol.2? If so, could you upload "Warning: Rumble strips" by Pete Banks? Thanks for posting!

he really didn't contrubute enough volume of work to the Yes catologue , so its not really hard to say ,its not prudent to make that assumption, but l do beleive he chose the direction Yes's sound took right from the beginning ,that Yes sound came from the direction his guitar work was heading ,but the band ,after taking the crossroad Peter choose, continued to evolve in that same vein ,into the great band they've become ,yyou can't put down Anderson or Howie ,they did perfect the Yes sound

Chris Farlowe ruined Colosseum and his work on earlier projects like "From Here To Mama Rosa with Chris Farlowe & The Hill" is more of the same. Yes would have died the same kind of fate as other Farlowe projects had he been in it.

Anderson had a one octave range and kicked Pete banks out of the band. Pete never really recovered from it and when all said and done Steve Howe has never had the attacking tone that Pete banks had. A lot of Yes's music after Pete banks became by their own admission overly self indulgent, my persona; preference still stands for me.

@pippipmagrip Yeah. I’ll have to disagree with this comment. Yes got way better as they evolved. Up to Drama. They continued to evolve being that. Obviously in other directions. Some was outstanding and some was downright SHIT. Love YES from the first album up to FFH with Benoit David.
