Love your reaction. pete and bas fans need to show up - let's make this album no 1 - a thumbs up for all the hard work they have put in and the pleasure they've given.

Remember, Bas was a jazz musician/composer/arranger and Pete was in a Ska band. They know musical structure, phrasing (scanting which lead to rap) and swing. No surprise they can do this.

Writing aside, they still have to preform it… and from what I’ve seen… they do. (Bonus points if their producers/writers are family, cause that’s just hanging out with grandpa in all the best ways. Way cooler than me and my grandparents.)

some stuff you might have missed: "chin wag in the boozer" - talking shit in the bar "quick count of the moolah" - count your cash "neck five of the Jacksons" - drink five shots of Jack Daniels "if you talking figures then I'm down for some action" - this is double playing off action figures, as in like GI Joe or whatever & figures (money) and action (betting) "while I'm puffing on a Benson" - Benson & Hedges are UK cigarette brand, famously one of the more expensive brands "you know me call like Miss Davina" - Davina McCall is a UK TV celeb

Well, enjoy the rabbit hole. These guys have 25 tracks they've put out since 2018 and 1) all of them are at least "good", 2) 80% of them are at least "excellent", 3) and at least 60% of them are better than everything else anyone else is putting out. You'll also want to check out their grandsons -- Nine and Dex. They are also highly skilled. It'll be obvious which one is which grandson. Nine produces their grandad's beats (which hit hard about 90% of the time). People will tell you they don't write their own stuff, but they do. They've stated they dont have ghost writers and there are multiple published articles (including on the BBC) which state that they write their own shit, their grandkids help them keep up on the slang, and one of their grandson's produce their beats. Pete (the short one with the rasp) used to drive his grandaughter around and she always put drill rap on the radio. It annoyed him for awhile, but eventually he started to like it. He asked his grandaughter for more suggestions. He became a fan of drill rap. He met Bas, who was a music teacher at the time, and talked him into rapping together. The rest is history -- they've been doing this since 2017. While their past is somewhat unknown, there are some facts out there (alsoc onfirmed in a number of articles): - Bas's father ran an underground barenuckle fight club and was a gangster - Bas's father tought him to box very young and he grew up as a barenuckle street fighter. - Bas dropped out of high school after knocking a teacher out. - Bas is former military, a former actor, a former lawyer, a lifelong musician, spent time playing piano on cruise ships, has put out an album of piano, and has done some timie in jail (there is a video of his friends greeting him as he's released from prison a few years ago). - Pete's dad was a bit of a gangster, I believe, as well, and Pete is bleieved to have ties to two well known crime families in the area they both grew up in. - Pete has done some time, it is believed (and he has plenty of tatts). - Pete's last profession was working for the city council and the Royal Mail. - There's a good video on KZbin of them doing a short interview with Fumez the Engineer. Another also (longer and more detailed) on the "Before They Were Famous" channel. - They're doing their second European tour literally as wew speak. Rumor is that they might be considering a US tour. - P&B have a broader association of other old guys who are also rappers and you'll see them featured on numerous videos with P&B (and sometimes at live performances). They're collectively the "Snooker Club" or "Snooker Gang" or something like that. One you'll want to check out is Norman Pain, but there are several of them. - I can't recall which one it is, but they said all of their family are supportive, except one of their daughters won't let the grandkids l isten to their music, because she doesn't approve of it. - Their grandson's (Nine and Dex) mostly sing about cars and girls, while P&B mostly seen about drugs, murder, girls, wealth, and a life of crime. - As of 2024, I believe their ages are 74 and 75 (or 75 and 76). - You can also find live club performances of about an hour or so long with P&B. They are WIILD. The crowds are insane and P&B go HARD, live. While people initially think these guys are a gimmick, they're the real deal. They're not stand-ins for someone else who is doing the work behinds the scenes o r a nything. They have a sincere interest in rap music. Many don't believe they write their own shit, still, which is ridiculous since 1) they state they don't have ghost writers, 2) they enjoy the genre of music, 3) they're musicians (one of them professionally), 4), people accept that they can spit bars and flow like they do at a top level, but they can't also write bars?! If you're good with words, have a lot of life experience, and have a lot of musical background (as well as enjoy the genre of music), there's no r eason to think you couldn't combine all these things and be a top tier writer, too.

Jam Jar is Cockney rhyming slang for “car.” So many bars with doubles and triples. Pete, for some reason has a beef with Potter Payper, hence the line. This Cockney Jazz Rap is a master class in flows. The fornicate line is one of the best. So smooth.
