According to Weird Wide Web, Peter Bowditch is a retired Royal Mail worker, a 73-year-old with a goatee and a dodgy right knee picked up from years of judo. Basil Belgrave is 77 and a trained pianist who exudes a slightly spivvish air. Together, they are the rap duo Pete and Bas. Pete discovered he liked rap when his granddaughter played it on his car stereo. Supposedly, they write their own material with the help of their grandkids.

​@@saintdon4461That's just a fan story because they're consultants for the label that was started around Pete and Bas' act in 2017. They're not actually related. They did help Pete and Bas develop their flows though. You can tell that they use a lot of the same ones as Nine and Dex starting at around the time they hopped on with the label.

To be honest, I think they did start out as a novelty act. Then they saw how popular they got so they kept at it. The crazy thing is they just kept improving. If you were to listen to one of their first tracks and compared it, they’re levels above where they were. Just proves that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

they did a couple of interviews - Bas has been in music his whole life - and worked on cruise ships apparently, and also did some work with a couple of famous bands - mentioned the New Faces who were around in the late 60s (I think) - so not much of a leap for rhythms and beats. He knows music - and not an amateur. Also they are Londoners - and Cockney rhyming slang started in the mid 19th century - so that sort of rhyming is in your subconsious/DNA. They said they started in 2017 and have worked at it and just aim to keep improving. So they are not passive in this - and they are taking this seriously and it shows. This is my favourite
