Often seen right behind Doc in the Tonight Show Band videos on KZbin. This was back in the Johnny Carson days. The fun thing in those Golden Years was getting to see him playing small bars in the San Fernando Valley. They taped Johnny’s show in the afternoon and then were free to play at night where they liked. For me, it was Alfonse’s where I’d catch big Pete (great sense of humor) and also Ross Tompkins at the piano or the trumpet of Conti Candoli.

Love Pete. I used to go see him play at Dino's in Pasadena back when I was still in college. I learned more listening to him than I think I ever did in school.
