Honestly if a game has a scripted fight, a health bar either shouldn't be present, or should be made obvious at some point "Nothing is working, we need to figure this out and/or need time" If I see a health bar go down, I expect it to have results

If you just block his rolling ball attack while you wait for the hookbats to give you a reaction command, it'll delete his HP bar. Also, while his HP is at 1, if the fight is still going you can kill all the hook bats and it'll end the fight. Again use their reaction commands against them to easily kill them all and finish off the last remaining one.
