I was at this gig. Brixton Academy. It was a fantastic performance. My enduring memory is someone in the crowd nearby rocking back on their heels and saying 'Holy f**k" during Simon Phillips drum solo in the Dave Gilmour song Blue light. Sadly I think that song from this night never made it to the VHS, although it is on the later Rockpalast performance.

The best show from this band. A pity still not available on DVD and Blu Ray. Recently was officially released the Rockpalast Show from 1986, a very good one, but this Brixton show from 1985 is one million times better than the Rockpalast one. Check both shows and you'll agree with me.

The best solo endeavor Pete's career. I remember getting this on VCR tape in '86 or so. I had been hit in the mouth by a pitch during a high school baseball game and lost two teeth fractured jaw, oral surgery - the works. Mom was kind enough to bring this home to me as a gift to keep me occupied during the day while I recovered. Simon taught me so much as a drummer and then especially as I was only 16 and learning from the greats by slowing records down and whatnot to figure what they did. I also recall thinking "Pete's bassists don't move!!!!", but solid as hell. what a band!! I still have the tape in part as a tribute to my late Mom and later bought the complete show from Pete's website of which half of the show reside on my iPod in various playlists.

What should actually be happening is as follows: this concert ought to be optimally remastered by Simon Philips himself, who knows as much about sound engineering as he does about his instrumental musicianship (Simon grew up in studio control rooms, which is part of why his drum sound is so goddamned awesome, 'cause he knows what mic & how to mix & blah more than most by far on top of his singular touch and just look at how he sits w/decent posture all balanced w/his center of gravity in his core + getting attire-biased magical Japanese baseball powers etc.,) Obviously there were Japanese baseball Gods who also dug on drums floating above the skies over Brixton that night in 1986, sweeping away any family of Thorne, Freeling, Voorhees, Meyers, etc., or any other asshole-ish spirits that might've hated on the idea of Simon delivering the performances of his life

Paul Leclerc, your criticism is a fair one and I do apologize for being so repetitive on this site. The point I was trying to get across is this. Of course the CEO's and owners of hospitals want everyone to donate blood so that they (the owners) can sell it for $. So of course you as an innocent (dumb) citesen will respond to their call and donate part of yourself to replenish their reserves, for free! Kind of like drilling for oil by begging other people constantly to give it to you for free, instead of paying for it like a multi-billion dollar company should. They would rather your broke grandmother donate it to them
