For those of us seeking the meaning of life, here it is. This is the message of a lifetime. Friendships and relationships are what make humans fulfilled and happy. Harry was rich, and famous but what mattered at the end was friendship, kindness, and generosity. I saw this tribute years ago, I keep coming back to it because there is no better example of the meaning of life. “If you have a friend, take time and tell them, I love you my friend, because in the end, our friends are all we have” paraphrasing, may be an error in there, but forgive me I’m drunk on Budweiser. This speech by Pete is a tribute to Harry but also a tribute to humanity. It’s beautiful. To friendship. To Harry and Pete up there together.

Pete himself just passed away today (June 10, 2013). If you ever went to a Peoria Chiefs game you likely saw Pete, and just about any kid who came up to him would get a baseball. A class act, true baseball man, a great human being. RIP

Perfect. We should all have such a friendship as Pete and Harry. Ever heard applause at a funeral before? Me either. Godspeed to both their souls

Another good..but oh so sad and touching moment was at the end of the funeral. Steve Stone said towards the end of his book "Where's Harry?"...that at the end of Harry's funeral as they carried him out the organ started playing very slowly.."Take me out to the Ball Game". Stone at that moment lost it and balled. Upon reading that, the tears came a coming from me too. Great book.

As one of those kids that Harry took time to sign an autograph for, I can tell you that it has meant more to me than I could ever explain.
