the Body Snatchers reference was also gold !! sad that this audience only watches the news.

Actually Canada doesn't have an official national bird. There was a campaign organized by Canadian Geographic a few years back to pick one, and they recommended the Canada Jay (aka Whiskey Jack, aka Grey Jay). But parliament didn't approve it. So we still have no national bird. I'm "sorry" for being a know-it-all about Canadian trivia and I promise not to heckle this fact if I'm ever in your audience. The call of the Canada Jay wouldn't be anywhere near as funny in your impression.

Quebec has a bird though: the snowy owl.

For me it was the opposite. Going into Canada as an American could be difficult, depending on where I crossed. No problem at Niagara Falls, tougher elsewhere. One guy at Fort Erie had my car searched EVERY TIME

One of the ports in Montana is like that, they're pretty serious about searching your vehicle they come close to stripping it down to the frame.

Crossing Arizona years ago I passed a random checkpoint in my rental car. I stopped and the guy asked me what I was doing. I said heading to Phoenix. Instantly he knew I wasn't American by asking my nationality. To this day and 25 years later, I have no idea how he could tell. My only speculation is that my accent somehow didn't quite sound American enough. That always stuck with me

Oddly the only time I have ever had my car searched was going into Canada to attend a SciFi convention. Rather than responding to the question of what the purpose of my trip is by saying I was on holiday I said I was "going to a convention" and suddenly the guy thought I was a shoe salesman with a trunk full of shoes I was trying to sneak into Canada or something (I had oddly stayed at a Canadian hotel on a previous trip that was hosting a shoe industry convention). I did get an interesting side eye from the border agent recently too when driving my Turo with Quebec plates back across the border from Vermont too but after I offered to show him all my rental paperwork he deferred and let me pass.

No matter what the Canada Goose sounds like, at least Canada will never be the country that was so embarrassed by the sound of their national bird that they lied to the entire planet about what it sounds like. *pointed stare at USA*
