I first saw RM 843 some years ago when I drove along the B2102 on the way to a church weekend away at Pilgrim Hall - I have photos somewhere! I went back there several times in subsequent years and was sorry to see it slowly deteriorating. Well done for all the restoration work!

Another fantastic episode! I don't what it about these buses that elicits an emotional response!! Must be your story telling. I love the RM843 story and cheered when she finally moved under her own power out of this field. Also loved the slideshow/montage at the end of Episode 39 (or was it 38) showing 843 in service then as a Bravo TV Channel "Champion" and her (not quite) final resting place. I'm not even a Londoner so don't have a huge experience with Routemasters, here in Bath my childhood double-decker memories were Bristol Lodekka's, VRT's and Leyland Olympian's with a light sprinkling of MCW Metrobuses!!

excellent video, as usual. love the old routmasters. used go too school on them, in the 70s living near Durham, ours had the front door entrance, so not so handy too jump on and off at bus stops. operated by the northern bus company, who still have a one, which, i think they've owned from new. 😂it's available for private hire, wedding etc.

I can fully understand your enthusiasm. Yesterday, I drove BC Electric #1231 for the first time in 12 years. No, it isn't a bus, but it's big and red and carried loads of happy people. Built in St. Louis in 1912, car #1231 was one of the trams that were running on the last day of service, February 28, 1958, and one of the cars I learned on, 25 years ago. There is something indescribable about re-activating a bit of old technology. And no, at no time in the day did I ever think about how Compo might feel about that, even though he's red and thinks he's big. 🤣

I was looking for some thing else when this popped up amd a great surprise so I watched it and even a greater surprise to see Godstone Garage. The green RM 409 and 411 route that I would have used in the 70s to take me to Croydon College. I remember the days when the old RT was replaced with the RM at Godstone and Reigate and the day the RMC route 709 arrived taking me to London from Caterham for a day out uptown. Thank you for the memory trip that the bus was part of my journey to become an Electronics Tech
