Cover the break in 1st gear and purposely pop the front end up to high and force your self to hit the break! It will develop your muscle memory. This is one area, where I definitely need some practice! When I was in my 20's, I could wheelie all day, and not even think about it. But now that I'm in my 40's, I can't help but think about the consequences of screwing up! I have wheelied off camera a few times( nothing to brag about though) here recently, and plan to spend some time getting comfortable doing it again. It's a skill that's needed for serious trail riding.

If you could do it back in the day I bet you'd be surprised how fast the muscle memory would come back! Its definitely a good skill to have in many instances on the trails!

Foot in the grab bar and other down by rear brake is for sure the easiest to start, getting it up is quick to happen, but for the carb quads it’s kinda time consuming to learn the feathering of the throttle and learning the delay of the carb vs fuel injected, he mentions it a lot and timing takes time, good luck. I’ve ordered a xfr wide grab bar to help protect the rear and since I have the pure Polaris exhaust on my predator 500 it sticks out several inches farther, just a point while practicing cause you will go back to far if ya don’t hit the brake in time but having your foot in the grab bar it will allow you to so called walk the quad

Dirt or grass would surely be better on the body and the quad if you fell off or went to far backwards but for me, learning to wheelie on the asphalt was easier at getting the front to come up and hold it because of the traction factor. Also I found wheeling along a fence line help me to identify the balance point by sitting on the seat and looking at the front fender in reference to the top of the fence line while feeling the balance point. Of course everyone grasps it differently. I think your explanation is great and always love your vids. You're gonna influence me to get another 700r. Lol.

Hey Rob, Thanks for watching my videos! Congrats on getting a new Raptor! I normally always ride with boots and riding pants so I don't notice the heat from the exhaust much at all. I'm not sure what you're wearing but most pipes are gonna give off the same amount of heat. I don't recommend heat wrapping your exhaust but some some guys do it. If you go that route I know you're supposed to leave the first portion of the header exposed so the heat can dissipate better. Some companies like Fourwerx make heat shields for the header as well 👍

@PeteHager5 жыл бұрын
dirt bikes are on another level. I'm not an experienced dirt biker but I've ridden with them and they're very capable. They're much faster than quads in rough terrain. I've always loved quads and I think they're super fun to ride, there's just something about power sliding that is so priceless. Sport quads do okay in snow but 4x4's work way better, same goes for mudding. If your adamant on a sport quad and have limited experience it may be wise to start with something like a Honda 400ex or a Suzuki Z400. They're great starter quads because they're reliable and affordable. If you want something with more power then it's hard to be the reliability of the Raptor 700. Otherwise you could go the sport 4x4 route like the Can Am Renegade 1000 or Polaris Scrambler 1000. Once again, if you're a newer rider it's wise to start with a less powerful machine. Also consider what machines your buddies are riding. If they're all on 4x4's you may want to run a similar machine otherwise a sport quad could struggle at times

@@geegonebadoin it’s a lot easier to get the less HP machines up with a knee on the seat. Most people that shift while wheelieing are sitting down at the balance point. If your brand new just start practicing in the grass in 1st/2nd gear. I’ve wheelied over several times and I definitely worked my way up to 3rd and 4th gear

So to go back down you just lean forward? I'm new to riding and I'd rather be overly cautious about flipping back until I get my chest protector.
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
BRAAAP Outdoor Adventures just lower the throttle and you’ll come back down pretty quick. You always have that rear brake too. Definitely start slower until your comfortable 👍

I have a lt230s its a 86 and i ant get it to wheelie. Powerwheelie i did one by mistake shifting into sec and got nertul and it came up a lil but i wanna do it without dumping the clutch
@PeteHager5 жыл бұрын
Most Atv’s will wheelie if you time your body weight and throttle correctly. I personally don’t dump the clutch unless I’m in 5th gear going really fast. Just keep practicing with your body motion and you should be able to get it to wheelie.

Was hoping to get some info on how your able to steer while in a wheelie.
@PeteHager3 жыл бұрын
I would assume you'd want to run a bit lower tire pressure. Still keep them even but if they have more squish you'll be able to direct the quad more by leaning. At least thats what I see guy's doing that are on the pavement 👍

I've got the wheelie thing almost down, just can't really figure out how to counter steer when it starts veering toward the ditch. Fyi my tire pressure is good.
@PeteHager5 жыл бұрын
Colton Sackett I would keep playing with your PSI. Leaning towards one side of the quad can definitely cause it to turn that direction. Hopefully you can get it dialed in and the quad will wheelie straighter for you 👍

you never pop the clutch when doing a wheelie ?
@PeteHager5 жыл бұрын
I've only used it to wheelie in 5th gear. The Raptor pulls up really easy in 3rd gear and pretty easily in 4th gear as long as my timing is good. I rarely wheelie in 1st or 2nd. I'm not saying you cant use the clutch. I just don't use it much personally

@@makeithappennic5784 I rode a KFX700 earlier this season. It was a total powerhouse. If anything I had a hard time figuring out how to keep the front end down from doing wheelies haha 😅 I'm curious why you asked about the clutch when your 700 should be an automatic?? All quads have their own feel to them so I would say the main thing is to practice wheelies at slower speeds until you get more comfortable with the balance point.

What size are the Pro Taper bars you have on the Raptor? Low bend / Race bend?
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
I have the Pro Taper Contour in the ATV Mid bend. I'd say they're about half the height of the factory Raptor bars. I'm 5'10 and at first they felt a little low but I got used to them. If your taller then me I would recommend going for the ATV high or sticking with the Raptor bend. You'll also need oversized clamps since these are oversized bars. I have the clamp kit and atv mid bars linked in my video descriptions 👍

What size sprockets are you running front and rear are they stock? I have a 2010 700r and my factory sprockets are 14 front and 38 rear and I changed them to 13 front and 40 rear and not sure if I like it or not better for short tight trails and a lot better for wheelies but takes so much from to end speed
@PeteHager5 жыл бұрын
I still have the stock gear ratio. I was actually planning on changing to a 15 tooth front sprocket so I could stretch 2nd and 3rd gear out a little bit. I dont people changing the ratio like you did. Your gears have to be quite a bit shorter
@dimelife96075 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought I would like it in like tiger Trails I thought maybe it would help me get out of the hole a little faster but I think I'm going to go back to stock I think you even going up a tooth on the front maybe like you said I might like it because a 700 has plenty of torque
@dimelife96075 жыл бұрын
How things going up a tooth in the front or maybe going down in the rear maybe we'll be a little more fun like you said stretch the gears out a little longer because you know the 700 have plenty of torque actually me and a few buddies are planning a big trip and the second week of September to go to Durhamtown resorts not sure if you've ever heard of it it's in Georgia I've never been but no a couple people that have and they say it's amazing

Yeah I recently made a short little video on my 2010 Raptor 700R I'm looking to get a GoPro before we go to Durhamtown hopefully I can make a good video of the place think I'm going to take your advice and maybe go up a tooth in the front they definitely have enough torque to stretch out some gears looking to order a 15 tooth for the front maybe start with that and see how it acts I will keep you posted on that if you haven't done the same thing by the way love your videos

At higher speeds with less horse power it may take more body language to get it to come up. You also might have to pop the clutch depending on what gear you're in. I would think a Warrior would have no problem pulling up in 3rd gear and probably 4th with the right technique
