Heya Pete. I use Distrokid for my music. I recently chose to pull down "80's Joint" and replaced it with what I feel is a far superior remix (as of this writing the track is still pending)... Hey there. So, generally the single version and album version will be treated differently. You can try using the ISRC of one version when releasing another (as long as it has the exact same file and metadata) and this may align, it no guarantees and it may differ across different platforms. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid

Hey there. If you released it with DistroKid then yes you can remove and then re-release it. Make sure you have a good reason for this and really need to change something as many platforms will reject t it and potentially ban future releases if you remove and re-release the exact same album. This is because artists have started removing and re-releasing multiple times to try to get playlist placements.

Hey there. It’s less about the distributor as it is the platforms. Apple Music and Spotify will often block if you try to release the exact same song multiple times as many artists have been trying to re-release the same song to get in to playlists. @@msdafidaf4824 I did link to the old metadata, and there was a problem with KZbin at first, but it fixed itself whenever I linked my account to the topic page, since I already had the song uploaded on my KZbin page. But ya, it’s confusing with the names and stuff, having to make sure you get everything right usually on the first try would probably make a lot of people have to remove and re upload their music. Lol and with this being my first time using the service I was bound to make a mistake, I just didn’t expect the uploading to be part of the mistake. 😆

Same length, a couple fixes. Would I go about this all the same way as you described? There isn't an option under individual songs asking if they have been previously released, but there is the ISRC box.

Hey Sara. Yes, you can include the song on an album and change it (the audio file) to a new one. I've done that on a few albums where I've included previously released singles, and I haven't tried to use the ISRC codes, though you could do this to see if the plays would link up.

Question. Do you think I could use this method to register my album with Nielsen SoundScan before it's completely done? I removed my first song before have been submitted to the digital platforms, I mean because being the first release, the artist profile of the digital platforms wouldn't have been created right? I have the Musician Plus, and the second artist name I didn't want, has been registered on the release. (When I want to upload new music) Will the space for another Artist Name available appear once it has been removed? (because digital stores have not yet registered my name, right?) Hey there Victor. The “two artist name” thing is at DistroKid’s end so you may need to contact them to remove the one you have used, once there are definitely no action e releases against it.

Hi there. Nope, you own your song and can upload it wherever you like, as long as you don't use "Content ID" on any of your songs at all.

It’s possible but I’ve never tried it. Any changes or removal and re-releases are a little risky so I would generally recommend doing it very carefully.

Unfortunately this is hard as platforms generally consider an album as one release. You’ll usually need to R.E.M. or and re-release it. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid

If you use the ISRC code it should simply replace the original versions but there’s no guarantee unfortunately.
