Yeah but they’re not deathcore by any means. They’re metal core. Both are sub genres i personally love as well as INK. But they’re just not heavy enough. A lot of deathcore makes bands like Slipknot sound more like hard rock rather than metal.

Hi Pete, it was probably mentioned before but here some quick notes on Novelists FR (btw FR stands for France where they come from and they added it to their name because of some 'legal issues'): The band photo you showed was with their old singer Matteo, who planned to leave the band after their 2020 tour (which had to be dissmissed). The new singer Tobias was the singer of now departed german band Burning Down Alaska (later renamed Alazka) and Lost Cause is the first Novelists song with Tobias. If you know both bands you notice right away that Lost Cause sounds alot like old Alazka (a fact I don't know how to feel about yet). The old Novelists stuff is much more dark, melodic, progressive or djentier so to speak. I cannot recommend highly enough that you check out some older songs of them like Gravity, 5:12 AM, Monochrome, The Light the fire, A Travers Le Mirior, Somebody Else, C'est la vie or After The Rain Feel free to like this comment so more can read it.

@@peteplaysmusic the issue with Spotify's "most popular" is it seems to be weighted by time. The only thing that bothers me here is that you picked a german disco band (Boney M) cover from the 70's to represent Turisas. Turisas made it in their own style for sure, but still it wasn't an original song from them. But that explains the disco ball at the start. :) The opening song for The Varangian Way would've been a better pick.

I saw Turisas support Lordi in Glasgow about 14 years ago. A mate from Skye got half a dozen free tickets because he kept playing Lordi on the local radio station and his Saturday night rock show was syndicated to a lot of local radio stations in northern Scotland. That particular song is a cover of the Disco classic Rasputin (originally by Boney M), hence the disco ball. Started as song they played live for fun and then decided to make a kick ass single out of it too. Metal covers of disco are often awesome (I've seen "Tragedy: The all metal tribute to the Beegees and beyond" three times)

fun local rumour about turisas's original harmonica player from a local. he was wellknown for his skills before his tenure in turisas. from what i heard why they had to replace him, was that he was a loose cannon while drunk, as he might after a gig wake up in a different city during a tour, last endeavours of his from beyond the years was a form of carnival band with firedancers and stuff. exentric but i still do respect him both for his legacy and his skills nevertheless.

The guys that look the most heavy are usually the ones doing the softest music. Have you ever listened to Kiss?

I recommend actually checking out the whole Varangian Way album from Turisas. It's one of those practically perfect albums. Shame how shit their output's been ever since.

That's actually Ice Nine Kills' soft song. They usually are much heavier. Also that song's in Drop A lol

I saw them in a Jared Dines video once, but I can honestly say I had never heard their songs (other than that Halo 2 song) before filming this. Thanks for watching! :)

Omgg why did u choose that song for INK? You chose their softest song to hear how they sound lol. I love that song but that isn't how they typically sound. I'd say listen to "IT is the end" or really any other song of theirs and you'll get a better vibe of how they sound. But they have a variety of styles so u may hate one song because of the style but then love the next so they have a great variety really. Never get bored listening to them. Also check out Sleep Token. As a song I'd say listen to the offering or Calcutta Also check out Avatar "bloody angel" or "smell like a freak show"

Cool concept. Probably more accurate if you check out at least a couple of songs. If you just go off a band's biggest song/video, it's probably a ballad or pop hit and not representative of their whole sound.
