Don't get me wrong, I love Wes Borland. But to call him a GOT Guitarist is like calling a Poet with a 50 word vocabulary a Poetic Guinness. Wes Borland was very creative working from a simplistic palette of guitarist skill.... but he's no GOT.
@peteplaysmusic3 сағат бұрын
For me, Wes’ simplicity is one of his best skills and it’s one of the reasons I think he’s a great. I definitely should’ve elaborated on this a bit more in the video though.

Good bands are secret sauce that few can figure out. That’s the magic. Some ingredients will stand out but if you take an ingredient out of the recipe it just isn’t the same. It takes a lot of ego check and realization to figure out that you have something sometimes. Up’s and down’s. Metal of all kinds is forged in fire 👊
@Cowboy1Brian8 сағат бұрын
Ive never used these "presets". do you prefer these software presets to actual gear that produces the sound?
@peteplaysmusic3 сағат бұрын
Yes, but at the same time, I’ve never played through all the gear that these presets are modelled on. I know what they’re based on but the convenience of it a being in a plug-in is really nice. Especially as the clean presets are almost exactly the same as the ones on the albums, the heavy sounds are different because they’re modelled on Wes’ current live rig.

Its no secret. I CANT STAND WES BORLAND. When they first came out he was on the cover of guitar magazine for years with no talent. He can make a song playing one chord and everyone just pooped them selves over it. I want to throw up just talking about it.

I'm guessing you have never heard of The presidents of the United States of America. They were doing 2 and 3 string guitar and bass before wes. Just a little research would have found that.
@peteplaysmusic3 сағат бұрын
I can’t say I’m overly familiar with this band but, I did do research of course. Looking into them now their guitars seem to be 6 strings tuned to C# with either only 2 or 3 strings on them, similar to Max Cavalera where he just removed strings. Wes tuned far, far lower obviously and initially modified a 6 string into a 4 string (as seen in the Nookie video) then had baritone customs made to better suit the low tuning. I do feel that that is different from just removing strings from a regular 6 though. I could be wrong about all of this of course and I definitely could have missed a band or guitar player dabbling in things like this before. Les Claypool was the main inspiration behind Wes’ 4 string apparently but, I can easily see this band influencing him too.

"Pioneered"? "One of the goats"? Jeeesus!!! Dude, where do you come up with them? You hear yourself? You're so young. This Limp Bizkit guy didn't invent the sliced bread. The list of top players is soooo long, but your guy surely ain't on it. And just to clarify what this dude "pioneered", 4-string guitars and "fretboard magic", ever heard of a man by the name of Joey DeMaio? He uses what it's called a piccolo bass since forever. And let me tell you something. Those basses are basically not basses at all. They're pretty much guitars. Even the technique Joey employs is that of a veritable guitar player. Not only rhythms, but riffs and solos. And boy, what solos! Yeah, four strings, but the distance between them is as tiny as 4 millimeters or maybe 5. And they're tuned one octave higher than a regular bass. And he's not only your ordinary guitar player, he's a virtuoso. Computer tricks and sound effects don't make you g.o.a.t.

I was thinking for non-soloing two-hand tapping, that Chapman Stick players and Warr Guitar players would have done so too, a long time ago - in all fairness.
@CoryIsMyName19 сағат бұрын
It's not because of the presence of skill, but lack thereof. He's the nerd in high school who somehow still banged all the cheerleaders. He's doing something absolutely unremarkable that we've all done as a joke, and somehow managed to be unbelievably successful at it. He didn't "invent a new type of guitar." He just took strings off that he didn't use, something that bad guitarists were doing for years before Limp Bizkit. He took tapping and made it shitty, and no, it's not difficult. He's just doing all the stupid things that we've all done while messing around during our first year of practicing, but instead of saying, "Haha, that's dumb," he made a career out of it.

The only thing I didn't like about Limp Biskit was Wes Bordlands stupid outfits, Makeup, and Eye Contacts. He looked completely out of place, like he was insisting on doing his own thing that he suggested the entire band do, but they said “NO”, so he did it anyway. I thought he looked like a fool.
