The point of the kiss between Peter and Mj was to make it “awkward teenage love”. If they wanted the characters to make out, the gladly probably would’ve done it. The kiss shown at the end of the movie show cases how innocent and pure the characters are, by having no experience in the romance department of their lives. I personally think that the kiss fit great with the storyline of the movie, if it was a make out it wouldn’t have fit the storyline of the movie at all. But I think the cute innocent peck fit their characters. If they did a make out it would’ve made no sense, considering Peter and Mj both have no experience.
