In 1982, Peter was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and was initially given a prognosis of six Months. He lived for another 12 Years and never lost his wit and charm. He never got over loosing his wife in 1971 but you would never guess it from how he always conducted himself both in public and private. Peter Cushing truly is a hero we could all look up to for inspiration. His work is timeless and his outlook on life is inspirational. He lived a full life, he defied the odds, he achieved hs dream, there has never been a bad word spoken about him by anyone, his films rock and he never changed 💕

Perhaps he refused and was gracious enough not to make a song about it? I say this without any bile. I am not trying to be contrary in the comments. It is just that not every British person feels the need to belong to all of it's institutions. In fact, some are appalled by their greed and hypocrisy. Best wishes to you. 👍🇬🇧

Peter Cushing was one of those actors who wasn't just liked. He was truly loved! That doesn't apply to a lot of them. Christopher Lee paid him the ultimate compliment, by saying the only reason Peter Cushing died was because he was too good for the world. That statement speaks volumes! @easternlights31553 жыл бұрын
Second that! Nicholas is massively underrated. I heard he was considered for the 12th Doctor, and although I loved Peter Capaldi in the role, I would have loved to see Nicholas playing a main character. He narrated a few audiobooks though, if you'd like to hear more of his honey voice. Waiting for Anya is a beautiful story and he reads it superbly.

It's funny how completely different his attitude towards being recognized for Star Wars was from Alec Guinness.
@hcu43599 ай бұрын
Before Star Wars, Guinness was mostly known for Serious Movies like Bridge on the River Kwai. Before Star Wars, Cushing was mostly known for horror movies; some of them (Corruption, Vampire Lovers, etc) pretty sleazy. I think he rightly saw Star Wars as a step up in the world.
@squamish42449 ай бұрын
@@hcu4359Yeah, that's right, he had no pretensions about being "A Thespian". Guinness just whined so much about it, despite becoming VERY wealthy. He made more money from Star Wars than all of his Serious Films combined, indeed his entire career combined beforehand. And he still starred in Serious Films afterwards.

@hcu4359 Жыл бұрын
The idea of Peter Cushing being anywhere near 180-190 lbs at any point in his life is kind of mind-boggling. He was already so gosh-darned thin in his Hollywood bit parts in the late thirties and early forties and in that mid-fifties tv version of 1984 which is his earliest surviving lead role. He can't have weighed more than 160 or thereabouts when he got into horror films.
