Peter Doherty releases a new single Flags Of The Old Regime on Monday 9th March through Walk Tall Recordings. The single was written by Peter about & as a tribute to his friend Amy Winehouse and is released in aid of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, who will also receive all proceeds from the profits of the single. Flags Of The Old Regime is available on 7” vinyl and as a digital download available soon.
Flags Of The Old Regime was produced by Stephen Street and features Drew McConnell (Babyshambles / Helsinki) - bass, Jamie Morrison - drums, Stephen Large - keyboards and Stephen Street - acoustic guitar & percussion. The strings were arranged by John Metcalfe (Durutti Column).

I love pete doherty seen him innrhe limelight in Belfast a couple of weeks ago, prior to going to going on stage he was just kicking it casually at the bar having the craic with everyone like it was nothing he just such a down to earth guy. @@MrJonpac Pete Doherty is one of my favourite musicians. I liked this song, but that doesn't mean I have to see him through rose tinted glasses. He's not misunderstood. He's an amazing artist, but he has also had tons of problems that were probably not helped by becoming famous in the way he did. Loads of people understand that, it's that failure that people identify with and are drawn to. Perfect people are boring, because nothing happens to them, as can be seen by all the most famous characters in literature.

Pete's great. And this song and all of his of work/music throughout his career are evidences of that. He's had a lot of personal problems in his life and gets judged for that but who hasn't. Unfortunately, people pick on his troubles and say this is a bad guy. His drug problem is simply inability to pretend and cope with selfish, hateful, empty and overly competitive society. Funny thing is that people who hate him never have done ( and, probably, never will ) anything that would have actual value and inspire other people and Pete has.
