I discovered Peter Deherty in 2012, when I was heavily addicted to heroin, for many years. My girlfriend was very supportive but it always broke my heart. I couldn't see her so sad so I would try comforting her, apologising, then feeling like killing myself goimg out at 2AM to get more heroin, listening to this on iPod and it was the only thing comforting me. Thankfully I am clean now. Thank you, Peter.

As a musician, I've admittedly never really given Pete Doherty a chance. But I found this song yesterday and have been playing it on repeat ever since. It's a work of art. Also think there's a slight nod in the chords to Redemption Song, which is great. Think I'll delve deeper into his stuff now! Very apt final line in this song, as regards my previous perception of him :)

You are in for a Pleasant Surprise. Pete is a Genius. I love Him best with The Libertines. His ear for a melody is almost unmatched. The Libertines,Babyshambles or Solo, there aren`t any tracks i don`t love. I have forced some of my Mates (all Musicians) to listen to Him. They all thought that He was a Tabloid Waster ...They are all now on board. Thank You Declan, for giving the Guy a chance.

Im lookin at your comment now mate,im on my girls youtube page, but yeah it says 2 years ago, hope you did delve deeper coz it would be worth it, he's a one off in my opinion, the media i think fukd him over and turned a lot of people off him, he's in recovery now thank god, but even when he was bad on the rock and gear the talent just poured out of him, I'm an addict myself and functioning is hard enough, don't mean to ramble on but it boggles the mind i think to see the quality of his work even when the disease of addiction was so rampant in his life, extremely gifted, amazing lyricist, and such a nice person too, anyway i'll leave it at that..but yeah as i said, a ONE OFF....peace out

I was sitting here working on work stuff on a Saturday morning. Then the line, "what a nice day for a murder" popped in to my head. I had not heard this song in probably 10 years. It's 9:30 AM and a beautiful day already... competing only with yesterday for the Nicest Day of Year (so far) award. I guess this was a message from my subconscious to stop killing my time (by working) and do something for me.
