I recorded this when it broadcast live on the local FM station on cassette. Since then transferred it to cdr. Still listen to it now. U2 performed that day and Sting with the Police. Great show.

I can't stop surfing and watching all of PG's old concerts, Gawd, I love him. He was (and still is) so unbelievably sexy. And that voice. And his words. I wish I would have had the funds to go see him when I was in college.

I saw his first US appearance in NYC, 1971 with Genesis of course. He was very strange and androgynous.

So dropped about three weeks before this performance and PG was magnificent even without Tony Levin - Manu and Rhodes were brilliant. I was there and the crowd was totally looking forward to U2 but PG's set served as a perfect tee-up for what was to come later in the evening. Was kinda ironic that The Police closed the show IMHO. Lou Reed was terrific as well may he RIP. Also, a local Philly fave, The Hooters played early in the day. Never will forget that day.

Amnesty International has a great importance to Peter Gabriel. Here, he is singing and playing some of his most successful songs like "Red Rain" on his piano, then as an actor dancer Shock the Monkey", "Sledgehammer", "San Jacinto", "Biko" and "In your Eyes". What energy and talent! Peter Gabriel is obviously a great showman. (Even if the sound is not so good).

Family Snapshot was an Extra Special treat. Gabriel was by far my personal choice but U2, Sinead O'Connor & Sting among others made for a blessed day of like minded folks. The tour stop we saw was in Chicago. Another once in a lifetime opportunity up there with Amnesty was the Chicago WOMAD Festival stop & more recently the duo touring companies of Gabriel & friends & Sting & friends along with additional musicians all playing together for the limited stops of Rock, Paper & Scissors tour. Keep it coming...

Still a powerful set in 2020! Except that “In Your Eyes” isn’t also from East Rutherford ‘86. Why the O/P decided to tack that on as being from the same set as the rest of the video, I don’t know.

Is there a reason why he had his wedding ring on a finger on his right hand? Random question I know but it's something I've noticed.
@lynnleo8996
@lynnleo8996 3 жыл бұрын
I've seen it on a right hand if you are widowed, or divorced. At this point he was still married, but possibly in the process of divorcing Jill. That's my best guess. You've got a good eye for noticing that little detail.

Tina Burns If you ever see a musician on stage looking panicked and gesturing to the side of the stage, they're telling the monitor engineer that they can't hear themselves.

Chief Kurtz A lot easier now. The band I tour with brings a Midas monitor console everywhere we go and our monitor guy splits into the I/O snake and we get the same mix every time. All in-ear with no fuss. Back then it was all feedback and blown drivers. Lol.

"SO" was his last good studio album, in my opinion. I don't like anything he did in the studio after that, and I am sad about it. I still think he is a genius.
@dbaenniteol4694
@dbaenniteol4694 Жыл бұрын
Good point. I'm towards that way of seeing it, too. IMO, his zenith as an artist was PG IV (Security). Maybe it would be fair to leave "Birdy" out of the discussion as it's mainly a flashback album. "So" was great, but I don't think it was as good s IV. After that, "Passion" was nice but not great, "Us" was mainly boring and the newer albums more and more boring. The celebrity and the activist got ahead of the artist.

Appreciated sober-minded pronunciation of musicians majority matured via their music. Someone or technician connected with musical instrument volume unchanged, paranoid as ever no one will pay attention the music instruments if they don't drown out everything else.
