I'm a 57 year old metal head. Somehow this guy is my favorite artist of all time!! His heart is in every song he does. If you can listen past his incredible and unique voice, you are treated to some of the greatest music available. There's not a song that I don't like but "Don't give up" helped me through some dark times. Who knows, I may owe my life to this guy. Thank you Peter!!!!

Finally someone mentioned the spectacular band called Genesis! I was about 14 years old but I can't forget Peter Gabriel's voice. The band was marvellous. My generation was very lucky for having so many wonderfull musicians from all kind of rhythms but the "progressive rock" was the most sophisticated and my favourite. Of course there were Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppellin and lots of those special musicians. Peter Gabriel left Genesis and started in his solo career. Always a genius and one of the best. Thanks Peter Gabriel for all the marvellous songs you shared with my generation and the other ones! ❤ ⚘ 🙌 👏

His voice is still as throaty, warm and beautiful as it was on those first opening lines on 'Looking For My Life'. It has matured though and sounds much warmer. Peter's voice always sits perfectly 'inside' the mix. Not a loud voice, but so longing. Hard to describe it really.

I never understood why Tony Levin has such a great reputation whereas no one actually plays one of his basslines. Even Sting has composed more memorable bass lines than him. But put drumstick on the tip of your fingers, play with Peter Gabriel and then everybody knows your moustache.
@frankmcbride70513 жыл бұрын
@@terreneuve6912 I assume you are basing this opinion on actually listening to his work, though I don't understand how. Tony has amazing feel, he doesn't just go for the obvious but often is a big part of defining a given song and he knows when to shine and when to blend. I would definitely put him on a top 20 bassists list.

Hard to believe this song was recorded almost 20 years ago... I recall this album being my lifeline when the world seemd to enter into some sort of choas, reaching a peak with the attack on the New York towers... But also with my good friend Yvon, who used to love this opus and make me appreciate it, who made his "no way out" move out of this world, so sadly. My friend would always try to defend the beauty and optimism behind the darkest first peel of those songs. Some shape of catharsis I think he was trying to tell me, something I dearly hope his soul was able to find on his way out of of here. After all he was right: Peter's music keeps us all.. up !
