So incredibly hip! No one can pull this off but PG. One in a billion. I actually spent an afternoon with Peter Gabriel in L.A. once and also met him at a NAMM show where we walked the floor for a while just talking about music and new instruments and stuff. He is a very soft-spoken, reserved and polite gentleman, and one of the best song writers and performers of the 20th century, IMO.

I was 6 years old, I never understood how you could do all those beautiful magic sounds and harmonies and I was fascinated by that. Why harmonies and sounds can make you laugh or cry, feel good or bad... You, dear Peter, are the reason why I choose to make music. To understand all the magic behind. 40 years later, you are still so inspiring. Nowadays our little planet needs people like you... really. You’ve done so much already. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all this magic and stay safe.

Well, that used to be the norm, back in the days when musicians were still real musicians, not just a bunch of copy cats who try to sound like the stars on the radio. Those old guys ALL have their distinctive voices, those old bands all had their distinctive sound. You heard the first note and knew instantly who it was. Unlike today where everyone's just copying the same crap over and over.
@bernardthedisappointedowl69384 жыл бұрын
@@angusseletto1511 Mr Styles did do a great version - he recorded his last album in Gabriel's studio - Though while it was really good, and he's a decent fella, it'll take a couple more decades to get the timbre in Gabriel's voice - I'm sure Styles will be about in a couple decades to do so though, he's a very capable artist, ^oo^

...agreed. But I think we'd be remiss, if we overlooked the "Security" album. For me, that was the game changer. Absolutely nothing in the rock genre was represented, YET?.... Everything on it rocked!....nothing was conventional or traditional....but your ears just KNEW it was ROCK magic!!

God gave this man, Peter Gabriel, the gift of music, to really, musically, express the reality of our times, of what we feel. At times, we may feel down, tempted to go to a dark path. But listening to Gabriel's music, you regain hope again, and to once again move forward. Like another long from the So Album, with Kate Bush, that gives hope: DON'T GIVE UP

Talented people, doing what they love, sharing it with the world. I love the song and, actually, I like this version a tad bit more than the original album version. I saw Peter for the 1st time for the Security Tour, 1984 Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto Canada. I had a front row seat and got right in front of him for the whole show. He came right up to me halfway through and crouched down with arms outstretched towards me and stared right into my eyes for what seemed like...forever. I was transfixed... Almost...scared. A memory I will never forget. I've seen him many times since and hope to see him many times more. Suffice to say I'm a life-long fan and will always be one. A true original.

Yes, I do shed a tear and want others to dance in the realization that there is so much more to everyone's perspective. I can only image how our son's (to someone private, not Peter Gabriel) perspectives have molded them, they needed you (Dad) and need you to be strong & purposeful; I am heartbroken, I just need you to be well & present. We all love you. Sorry, needed to try to reach someone in time and space. By the way, you were great when you were present, I loved the fact, you knew the names of trees & birds; you a lovable & valuable. Please wake up wherever you are.
