Only people calling for lockdowns are either financially secure in their big houses working from home, or people that have got comfortable sat at home on furlough. We will be paying this back for generations, austerity after 2008 will feel like a banquet. Let’s get back to work and stop ruining people lives. I’m in the Army and have worked all through, and I will be hit with a pay freeze (real terms pay cut) and those chums sat working from home will still get their pay rises and continue living as they did before. Tens of thousands of people will lose their jobs, a large proportion of those furlough workers calling for lockdown, when if they were working their job would be safe. This needs to end, lets get the economy back on track. Who are the selfish ones?

I dont accept the argument of any tech company using "terms of service" violations. If no CRIME is committed in whichever country that video or radio broadcast is seen or heard in then a private company has no right to violate your rights as a citizen of said country. Our laws need to impart this to every company that operates on our shores (the U.K for me) I.E if I were to call someone a muppet in a comments section or social media thread I have committed NO CRIME, yet it can removed as harassment or another reason. If I said the said the same in the street I COULD suffer a public order offence charge but at least I can have my say in regard to refutation and defending myself. Online? You can appeal to a manual review if at all and just be given a generic response in all but the smallest amount of cases. In essence out national online laws need to be reviewed and reformed immediately.

The question is not whether lockdowns work or not; of course lockdowns slow down virus spread and save some lives, but the point is: it's not worth it to destroy the economy and millions of jobs, let alone all social life, indefinitely, to save a few people in their 70s and 80s (most covid casualties are 80 years old and older), politically incorrect as that might sound. Most of these people could die even if they simply caught the flu.

In Ireland, the government is no longer reporting how many deaths attributed to the bug had serious underlying health problems. Until the 4th January 2021, they published daily,a detailed Epidemiology report which listed cases, hospitalisations, ICU admissions and deaths attributed to the bug. It also showed the number of deaths with underlying health problems - 93%. It showed the median age of death is 82, and 93%. Also that 92-93% were aged 65+ & 78% are 75+ This has now been replaced by a 1 page 'Infographic' which only shows Daily and Toral Case numbers and deaths. 😥
