I love both bands jd and ts but morrissey was such a strange character back then i think deep down he did appreciate jd music and i think deep down hooky does appreciate ts music.

i mean the response from their manager makes sense, given what he was saying plus the interview moz and marr did where they mentioned joy division talking about the "manchester sound". moz said they're only really relevant cos Ian died, and because of the public romanticism of "dead" bands. the wit of the mancunians strikes again...

Having different opinions is fine. Some people prefer New Order, some people prefer Joy Division. The problem with Morrissey’s different opinions is the xenophobia and racism
@criminally_vulgar3 жыл бұрын
The difference is, this anecdote doesn't sound like a recent one, and back then (in the 80s and 90s), Morrissey wasn't racist. It's true that he was accused of racism in around 1992, but that was just the NME trying to get a good scoop - everyone who knew him said it was all lies. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT ME DENYING THAT MORRISSEY HAS SAID THINGS *THESE DAYS* , I JUST MEAN THAT HE MOST LIKELY WASN'T XENOPHOBIC AT THE TIME OF THE STORY.

Imagine using suicide as a joke in a public Q&A, just to get a laugh at Morrissey's expense, when you lost your own bandmate to suicide. Suggests to me he hasn't learned a lot over the years.
