I miss Peter Jennings. He died from smoking too. Well he quit but 9/11 made him & me start smoking again. Sure was nice to see him & hear his voice again. I still smoke unfortunately. Thousand of failed attempts. I’m just better to just stay cut down. Unable to stay quit. 😢

And less than a yr after this aired, he died from lung cancer that was the result of his smoking habits. I didn't know this aired (or that it was about to turn 20) until now.

It is so good to see him again, it felt... comfortable and warm. I remember reading a few years ago that in the 70s Marlboro started adding ammmonia compounds to their cigarettes, to make them more addictive, as soon as the other companies found out they all did and then they said: Trust us, our products are safer than ever before... As long as corporate profits will matter more than human life, our chances of survival on this planet will decrease slowly but inexorably, until one day the History of Universalis Biologica books will read: Homo Sapiens: Advanced form of animal life - Failed Experiment - EXTINCT - - - - Cause: Greed,

It's very sad and quite ironic that Peter himself would succumb to lung cancer less than a year later.

Ultimately, he was telling people "don't make the mistake I made." I remember seeing a news clip about how smoking went down in the 5 yrs after he died from lung cancer.

notice how they say "nicotine" isn't addictive. Quite true! It's all the additives that make it addictive.
