The pips are from the old public phone boxes. It would start making a pip pip tone if your time was running out & you would have to put more money in to continue the conversation. If you didn’t then the call would end

You're up against it a bit, really. First of all, he's from Bolton. So you're going to struggle with his accent and the local vernacular. Secondly he's telling jokes that were relevant about 25-30 years ago. It's a really old gig. With that said, you did very well 🤣

Im from England and we use pips to refer to the seeds of citrus fruits, (lemons, oranges, limes) but also any kind of rapid high pitched beeping. In our schools we dont have a bell for between classes or breaks, we have pips...

Or an orange seed. Really, they are any small hard seed found in various fleshy fruits. It can also refer to the small round depressions on dice used to indicate the numbers.

A pip is when you are using a public phone and you put money in , and after that monies worth is running out the phone then sounds out a continuous sound pip pip pip pip telling you to put more money in so you can continue talking or it will close down

What does your skin colour have to do with understanding someone? I'm as white as someone in a Scandinavian country, but that doesn't mean I can understand Norwegian or Swedish. If you're not from the United Kingdom or haven't lived here, then you probably won't understand a fair amount of our slang and will struggle with the diverse range of regional accents.
