I love the way the camera tends to wander, observing and taking in all the sights. While some might not consider it hollywood stuff, I think its very natural and seems to draw the viewer through the 4th wall, so we are standing with the master as he tells the story.

Good morning Peter. Simple and pretty. "Something within yourself will tell you whether it works or not." Sometimes it is difficult to hear that voice in bonsai. When I get blocked before so many bonsai guidelines and not being a decision to make, I call my wife and ask her: Which one would you cut? And I cut the one that she tells me. And she is amazed. Why do you listen to me if I don't know anything about bonsai?

What do you think of putting in the wet floral foam to hold the cuttings in the pot securely? You still have the simplicity of the design with the holding power of the foam. Foam can be cut so as to be hidden in the pot. Tall pots with narrow holes though, would not need it. Just a thought.

@@peterchan3100 I know that is the perceived version of the origins Peter...but research thru early art etc...shows it was women who originally made sparse arrangements on shallow plate like vases as gifts and decor. @@peterchan3100 I've been trying to remember where I saw the images. Could have been in the Chester Beatty in Dublin...or somewhere similar?? Women and flowers were around thousands of years before Buddhists. Before the name of Ikebana was invented. The delicacy of minimal or any flower arranging is to its core, feminine. Just as warfare is male. Monks used it for sure. It fitted in with sparing life.
