This theme manages to be nostalgic, sad, and triumphant, all at the same time. And it couldn't be more British if you gave it a cup of tea and a scone.

One of my favorite Masterpiece Theatre productions. The music says so much about the nobleness and courage of those who serve their nation.

This program laid bare all of the tragic, boastful, petty, frightened, stupid attitudes of Moggy, Rex and all the rest yet still raised up their sacrifice with all due dignity and honor.

My dad played Pip, he did some smaller jobs before, but this show was his big break (he was 24 at the time). I still watch the series to this day. I'm in love with the music. My dad and one of his friends, Nick went up for the role and when dad got the job, Nick didn't speak to him for a while. They are still good friends though 😂 He also became good friends with Jeremy Northam, going to my dad's wedding and getting to meet my older sister. Every now and then, they still get in touch with each other. Anyway, thank you for uploading this.

Thank you to your Dad, just did an annual rewatch, I grew up watching this and remains one of my favourite miniseries to this day. The cast were all fantastic and really made the show more than just a geek out for plane folks (myself included). He brought a real gravitas to Pip, who was a complicated character with some intense moments - thanks Dad!

Neil Dungeon did a great job in bringing "the vile Moggy" to life. While the mini-series was good, the book was a lot better, though I am not sure how if they would let Dungeon portray in Moggy as the natural born killer that he was.

A stirring and evocative piece of music in the same way the dam busters theme is...

When I was in school at the age of 13 (20 years ago), I wrote a story about a pilot named Moggy, who was fighting in the war. He chased the last of the German planes but ultimately decided to let it go. Simultaneously, his friend shot down a plane in a fight and was heading home but was shot down by the German plane that Moggy had spared. I received an A for the story. The teacher had no idea that I had completely stolen the plot.

Question: Did Peter Martin write this music or was it composed by Chris Walker? Wikipedia's article on "Piece of Cake" says nothing about Peter Martin but lists a "Chris Walker" as composer of the theme song. Anyone know for sure? So glad I found this but I would love to add the piece where Uncle and Skull are talking about the pilots' flying styles; such beautiful strings used!
@jamesstuart59045 жыл бұрын
I honestly have no idea how Wiki came up with 'Chris Walker' as composer The series' end credits list Peter Martin as composer/conductor.
