Peter Molyneux's Kickstarter "Project GODUS" is approaching completion, so he stopped by the Revision3 offices to chat with Adam Sessler. In part one of their interview, they discuss the breakout success of Curiosity, his plans for Project GODUS, and, of course, the internet's infatuation with drawing penises.
Look for part two, in which Peter explains why he's using Kickstarter, what will happen if he fails, and what he wants to accomplish with GODUS.

I really like having Sessler back on camera. He is a person who levels with the people he interviews and an in depth thinker while not forsaking the willingness to laugh or make jokes. He is definitely a right step in improving gaming journalism from the cesspool it has been dragged into.

In an industry that is filled with sequels and franchises, having someone who is innovative albeit a little to ambitious is a refreshing and welcomed thing. So why so much hate for this man?

Molyneux seems like a really great guy, every time he speaks, I have to remember to take what he says with a grain of salt. I still appreciate the guy for his well-meaning contributions to the industry, even if they turn out to be disappointing a lot of the time.

I really hope this game gets made. I know his ideas fall short very often in the finished product, but I think someone with this lofty of an approach should keep trying. There have been moments in his games that I have not felt elsewhere, and I want to keep experiencing that.

Guys if you haven't already backed Peter's 'Godus' Kickstarter, please look it up as it's a very close run thing and it's anyone guess whether he'll be able to raise the money he needs to fund the game in the remaining 69 hours.

Looks really good,I like your guys ability to preview/review/ and interview indie games and developers..something larger sites and channels are unable to do,I think indie games are the purist form of games.They normally aren't sponsored by large companies and rely on individual financing or backing from potential players allowing them to have a lot more creative freedom.

It's not a bad thing that "game" is a restrictive term. It's not that it has "stigma" around it, it's just something that has a specific definition. But now we're getting "games" that don't fit within that definition, but people still seem to want to call them games. We just need to come up with a better definition for these "non-games" instead of trying to messily redefine the whole medium. That doesn't mean these non-games are bad, it's just properly recognising them for what they are.

Have you played the black and white games or fable: the lost chapters? They're really solid games that really demonstrate this dude's interests and passions when it comes to game development. While the later fable games are a bit of a mess, Lionhead's early 2000 games really show some characteristic depth, humour, and replayability that we need more of in games.

People don't know the definition of hate anymore sadly enough. They throw around the term too much. I've started to doubt peter quite a lot after all the false things he said but that doesn't mean I hate him. I wish him the best and I hope he actually succeeds in his game.

Yes I know that, and that's a reason to hate someone? There is too much hate in this world. People demand perfection and yet they themselves are not perfect.

You're putting words in his mouth. Where did he say Curiosity was going to be "AMAZING" or revolutionary? And why couldn't Godus be great? All of his other god games are (a genre he created by the way with Populous). Or are you being wilfully ignorant like most people and only taking his Fable games into consideration when judging his entire career?

@HamsterPants522

Your argument is equally as entitled on the other end of the spectrum as Molyneux's words are. A game can be anything, just because you don't personally define it as such doesn't mean that other people shouldn't be allowed to, and Curiosity was an interesting social experiment either way, so to feel sorry for the people participating in it seems a bit arrogant.
