Peter Noone, badass rocker... who'd have known? Excellent!

Had he changed his name and worn dark glasses . . . this is good. That he never was given the chance he deserved, well, that reminds me of Billy Cowsill, who left his pop band to become an alt rocker, [playing with Waddy Wachtel, way back in 1970, but no one gave Billy Cowsill a chance, because he had been one of the Cowsills, who were, by the way, quite good. Well, I was never a Hermits enthusiast, but I remember seeing this on tv in 1980 and it is still good, really good. I should hear more Tremblers.

The Tremblers opened for the Beach Boys on a summer '80 tour. It took the crowd most of their set to recognize Herman.

Holy CRAP! Who would've thought that "Herman" actually went through a New Wave phase? All I can say is that this a SHOCKINGLY AWESOME reworking of a killer Elvis Costello song!

I was there for that, as their combo road manager, sound guy, big stretch van driver and fixer. Fun gig but they were LOUD, even from the green room who we were sharing with LaToya Jackson who was maybe all of 11 years old.. It's all kinda a haze at this point.

Must have been Janet. Latoya was 23 and 24 in 1980. 2 years older than Michael. Janet would have been 13 or so.

Just as one of those historical things, this was at the end of a west coast club tour where we had opened for Iggy Pop up in Seattle and Vancouver, and Huey Lewis in Petaluma, so a real mixed bag of genre's for shows.

And Robert Williams on drums, Gregg Inhofer on Keys, guitar, and backing vocals. And me hiding out in the green room, the band's sound guys weren't allowed into the mixing booth/tower thing they'd roll into the studio, so nothing to do but watch..

EC sent me too. Very Surprised. They did a very nice rocked up version. I was prepared for a poo party. Nice job. Could chill the thrown in extra words here and there. Ah, but a cover is an interpretation and the rocked up, energy filled version displayed here. Well damn it. It was good.

Herman's Hermits were really good r'n'b, they were asked do wanna stay were you are or have big hits, they chose pop. You can hear some of the r'n'b tracks on their discography. It shows up.

@@maryhyland ~ Fair enough. Indeed an A for effort, and better than a lot of other crappy stuff that was being done at the time. I'm merely giving credit where it's due.

slimshine918 I will certainly agree that there was a lot of schlock out there at the time. Would you happen to know if Peter did more than dabble at this or was this a one off? Each time I watch it I have to admit I like it more and more. I guess I had too much of the “I’m ‘enery the eighth I am…”
@laserdoug15 жыл бұрын
@@maryhyland We did about a two month east coast tour of the usual clubs, The Ritz, Stone Pony, etc. then took a bit of time off and then did a west coast tour that went up to Vancouver and Seattle where we opened for Iggy Pop (those two shows were just.. nuts), then back down through Petaluma opening for Huey Lewis, then a show in SF, and a couple more gigs in LA, one at The Whisky, the other at The Country Club? out in the valley. Somewhere in there we did the Midnight Special, and the band may have done another tv show before I had come on board. Things kinda dissolved after that and Peter put together a new band that I was not part of, but I think the album had gotten all the air play it was going to get by then. He had a lot of great players on both the album and on the tours, it was kinda insane at the time, but glad I did it when I did!
