The idea of young girls starting out as innocent children, quickly becoming grown women married (with children), and then having their husbands be sent off to fight and die in wartime battle. Then the cycle repeats itself with a new generation of children and their predetermined future, so to speak. A tragic story of the trials and tribulations of humanity, spearheaded by the government and its "priorities".

"Husbands?" The original words were "Young men." Married men had a better chance of not being drafted; but perhaps young people of today do not remember what the draft was and therefore find it easy to change the original words to whatever they want.

Agreed.....My draft lottery number came up at #17 when I had to go in and I was single and still in college. I don't like it when "tribute bands" change the lyrics from the original version. It's not their place to do so.
