Thanks for reuploading this! I can’t help but find the phenomena and social contagion surrounding “miracle healers” fascinating from an anthropological perspective. I feel terrible for the countless individuals who were taken advantage of. Nonetheless, clips like this grant some insight into methods employed by greedy people to earn the trust of the disadvantaged-namely, by preying upon their beliefs and need for solace in times of hardship. Popoff’s preaching goes against the very doctrine he claimed to uphold. It takes a real egotist to declare oneself a modern-day profit/saint; funny, really, since most Christian denominations espouse meekness and modesty. Clearly that never got through to this guy. I genuinely wonder which was more important to him: money or being revered. I assume it’s a bit from column A, a bit from column B.
