Gosh what a line up!!! and that was just Auckland's set. The best Telethon NZ ever had...$6million 1985 dollars raised (approx $20million now). Such a different country back then, Rogernomics hadn't quite kicked in yet! Positive memories...Thanks for posting.

I'm pretty sure the 1983 telethon raised $10 million but I'll have to do some research to confirm.

Man i met Sorrell at Rainbows End,I had a ticket for a Prize and as i walked up for him to check the number I got dazzled by all the cameras and hot lights and all that stuff and dropped my ticket, He understood i was scared and said in that loud Boss Hogg voice "Son imma hungry, The sooner you find it, The sooner we can try somma Aunt Lulus fried chicken dinner with and all the fixins, I replied "Yes Boss" he yelled back at me "God Bless you Son" and gave me this massive hug, Boss Sorrell Booke RIP all these years after you passed you've left this now older man a fond memory that i'll never forget.

😂😆 HAHAAA so it actually happened?! Boss Hogg DID visit Manukau city?!!! I cannot find any archived material that would confirm his visit except for my memory and your comment!

I spent years questioning my childhood memory of Boss Hog, visiting NZ. I remember standing next to him and he had his hand on my shoulder as he spoke to the crowd of fans. This was at Manukau city in the car park just above McDonald’s . I was a kid in the 80s and remember the excitement . I remember Boss Hogs presence and how he loved seeing his fans that day . This video is the only evidence I can find to confirm my memory.

Yes Boss definitely was in that area I had a great time meeting him at Rainbow's End while they were filming some cutaway feeds for the live broadcast, He was great , He stayed in character as Boss and really played it up for the crowd and kids.
