Approx 25 years ago, I was on a show called, INFATUATION, which was to be a rival to Blind Date, hosted by an American tv host called Bob Eubank. On our show Peter Stringfellow was a star / celebrity guest. After the show, Peter gave all the contestants (10 of us) VIP passes to his club in London. On our arrival the following week end, ha gave each couple their own private table, with a bottle of champagne. He was a very down to earth guy, and made us all welcome. It was a lovely gesture! Many thanks Pete. RIP. 🙏🏼

I can attest Peter was a gentleman. I was a serving soldier based in London and he regularly invited us lads down to his club. If you could prove you were a serving soldier and were well behaved you got a table and a load of heavenly money to get a few dances.

Pete or “Stringy” as we knew him to be, was a lovely man. I knew him through my friend working for him. The first night I met him he was wearing a long, blue, velvet jacket with his hair wild. It was 1998, and he was a gentleman. At this point, he had a flat upstairs at Stringfellows Covent Garden. I was 18, and he was sweet and kind. He had a much younger girlfriend who he adored, but he wasn’t a letch. He had a guy working for him who used to play “Brian Tisley” in Coronation Street, who was a letch and a pig!!! He was the perv and I don’t know what happened there but hey ho. Rest in eternal peace Stringy. You made us smile

I used to own a card and balloon shop. We got a phone call one day from Peter Stringfellows personal assistant. She said she was calling on behalf of Peter Stringfellow and wished to order balloons for delivery. I said "yes of course he does" just to add, I live in Dorset. I then put the phone down thinking it was a prank. The lady called back, it turns out, Peters wife Bella, had a sister who lived down the road from my shop and Peter wanted to send a huge bouquet of balloons with a card for Bellas Nephew on his birthday. I no longer have my shop but I still live in the area, and I still balloon decorate, and to this day, Peters assistant still phones me to order balloons to be delivered.

Stringfellows wasn't always that type of club. For years it was a high class haunt of the rich and famous. I worked at the hippodrome and we were allowed to go to strigngfellows on our nights off. I got the job because I was close mates with one of Peter's nephews and still am. In fact seeing this just reminded me to reply to a text I had off him yesterday! Great memories.

I've been a DJ for 34 years, working in the nightclub industry is a real joy, creating memorable events and just being the one that makes special memories for other people as I create memories for doing it. I made some tapes of some of my nights working the clubs in the 90's and can be there again in an instant with those tapes, it was hectic and I understand why he wanted that peaceful area to be laid to rest, it's exhausting making so much happiness for others which is exactly what he did. RIP Peter and thanks for the fun.

Excellent video but for me his best period was missed out. After the Black Cat closed he went on to open the Mojo where loads of great bands played at the start of there fame, even Hendrix. After that he opened Down Broadway and then the Penthouse before moving up to Leeds and opening 2 clubs Cinderella's and Rockefellers , his first venture into the glamour world. During the time of Broadway and Penthouse I got to know Pete quite well as he managed the local band I was with at the time, his brother Paul even roadied for us for a while. What is not recognized enough is the massive influence and impact he had on local music scene and beyond. What I can say is he was nothing like his public persona during his London days, he was a really nice man who helped out many people.

Peter Stringfellow, what a fascinating character with a genuine, classic rags to riches back story. Makes you reflect on how a simple twist of fate can change your whole life direction; if he hadn’t been caught flogging those stolen carpets everything else would almost certainly never have happened, although I suspect there was something inside him that would have found another route to success. I watched an interview where he said he lost faith in God when his mother died of lung cancer. It’s a cruel irony that he lost his own life the same way, but I believe God understands us better than we do ourselves (disagree if you want but please don’t shoot) and I hope he has now found peace, reunited with his mum and other loved ones. 🙏
