I learned a like over 10 years through the History Channel (when it was still mostly history lol) that Peter Weller became a professor or doctor in History. I love that he threw in that interesting fact about Italian sound dubbing and it's connection to Mussolini. Much respect to actors like him who are educated and more than just actors/celebrities.

For me the best scene is when murphy returns to his house, and remembers, and its amazing how peter emotes thrpugh a fucking plastic mask and makes you feel the characters anger and despair and fury when he realizes all he has lost.

As an Italian I'm so proud hearing this compliments from peter Weller! Yes in Italy we have some nice dubs, very well done even if not all Italians loves the work that our voice actors do in.every movie,anime,tv series etc... Fun fact the same voice actor that dubs peter in Robocop is the same voice actor that dubs Arnold in all his terminator movies! He is one of the best voice actor that we have in.Italy

@M Suzuki Reminds me that the Star Trek DVD's always seemed to be in 5 languages. I listened to some of the dubs and they could sound all over the place. Some were really accurate to the original, some were not. Anyway, along comes the TNG bluray and in addition to the German, Spanish, French & Italian it now has Japanese... It's interesting listening to that and seeing which voice actors nail it (even though I can't really understand japanese, you have the tone of voice and knowledge of the original dub to help out) Data's Japanese voice actor is near perfect. Beverly's is quite good too. The others generally less so. I mean, they're still doing a good job, it just isn't always a good match to the original... The German dub meanwhile, Geordi sounds really accurate, but say, Picard sounds terrible. For that matter, They switched actors for season 5 onwards, and the second Picard was a lot better. Though I'll never forget the moment Picard started singing and it abruptly reverted to the English dub which only reinforced how poor the German Picard actually was... Dubs are a weird experience sometimes...

AddamHusayin the original is far better in almost all aspects, casting, direction, music. the original was way ahead of its time...the new one is just of its time...which is to say it looks just like every other action movie we have seen in the last decade or so

It's like an action movie, without action. And the action in the movie meant nothing for the plot unlike RoboCop 1987, if you go back and watch, every action sequence had a piece of the story and a piece of Murphy's story with it. The only good acting in my opinion was Gary Oldman. Joel Kinneman's acting was like watching a brick wall for an hour and a half and watching Abbie Cornish cry throughout the movie was more than annoying. When the DVD comes out, I'm doing a "Clara Murphy Crying Compilation." Seriously, the writers and MGM should be ashamed.

it is true what Peter Weller says about the dubbing in Italy. Italian actors were dubbed in ....Italian. Example: Bud Spencer is from Naples and because of his heavy Napolitan accent his voice was dubbed even in Italian. This was told to me by a friend (who I met during my stay in Rome in 2003) of Bud Spencer's voice. The latter gentleman sadly past away somewhere in the beginning of the millennium and since then Bud Spencer lost his voice, so the speak. I lived in Italy for some time: The best non English version of The Simpsons I ever saw (heard) was the Italian one. It sounded as if the original voices simply switched to Italian: astounding.

The film could have been a forgotten dud SO easily. Instead; it's a Classic of the genre, and I would argue that Weller is probably #2 at the lowest. Despite the issues, the complaints, the demands, the "Actor!!" "Preperation!" "I'm an Artist!" "Respect the process!" cringe...I am still confident.

I just watched a couple scenes of Robocop dubbed in Italian, and the guy does not sound exactly like Peter Weller. They did a decent job but it's not exact. Peter Weller has a unique voice. AI can change all of this.
