I purchased the Yeacomm NR610 you reviewed a month ago to replace my Arcadyan. My best results on TMHI show when I am connected N25 and N41. I am currently getting 100-320 down and 20-35 up. This is an improvement from my previous 35-75 / 20-50 with the Arcadyan stuck in the house. It seemed to always latch onto N71, which I had to disable on the NR610 to force the use of N25 and N41.

That's great. Yes, all of these devices will grab the strongest signal even if it is only slightly stronger and a much worse choice of band. N25 is a good band and should get faster as T-Mobile assigns more resources to it.

Were / are you on the T-Mobile home plan? I would love to try an outdoor router however I have been told that you can not run the home internet sim card in other devices as it will not work (I tried this with a Inseego MiFi X PRO from T-Mobile and it did not work). We have the Arcadyan and have continued to have poor coverage with it. We have 3 towers close by but 2 of the 3 have continued issues due to lightning strikes and equipment failures which leaves just one tower and it is well south of us versus the other two which are north. Long story short we are now using starlink and T-Mobile which is expensive but at least it works, I would love to be able to have a stable, dual ISP system.

I saw that but have no information on the channels it supports or if it is 5G SA or NSA. I hope that it is SA because that means that T-Mobile will soon be assigning resources differently. The problem is that this is a radio and not a pizza. Not all of them are the same. What about tuner sensitivity, band locking, etc. We know that this radio is made by Arcadian and that their last attempt was poor on features and firmware. It makes me sad that people get their hopes up thinking that maybe this version of the Hindenburg will be better? Don't ignore the fundamental problem... they don't know what they are doing 😬😯😉. They should put the MRD up for public comment and at least listen to the suggestions.

I used external Antenna and while the signal was great, I learned that Tmobile prioritized phones over home data, phone had 30-40 Mbits speed and home router only 3-4 Mbits of speed on the exactly same spot. So it does not matter how good signal you have but that Tmobile puts home routers on the last end of data priority and you can not get decent home speeds even when you phone gets great data.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 5 ай бұрын
Part of what you say is true; T-Mobile does prioritize devices and Home Internet Users come last. This is by design. T-Mobile is first and foremost a phone network provider who has opted to sell additional bandwidth to Home Internet customers in markets where such bandwidth exists. Problems happen when people ignore their goals and try using units where they are not permitted. I live in one of the most densely populated parts of the United States, Silicon Valley California. I have millions of neighbors. When things are quiet I can get 700Mbps but when it gets impacted, I can drop to 350Mbps. Focus on getting good Signal. If you are only getting 40Mbps on the best of times, you were never getting a good signal. Focus on RSRQ, SINR and RSRP numbers. I get over 140Mbps UP! TMHI service is great if and only if it works for you. I am not sure why you would drop to 3 Mbps, that seems like something is not right.

The modern 5G Gateway is really a 4G Gateway as well. The good ones actually have 4 antenna ports, aggerate 2 or more frequencies and support network frequencies above 1Gpbs. I don't think we are going back to 4G LTE gateway pricing for radios like these.

Hello Peter, After several conversations with T Mobile tech support, I did stay with the Gateway and Mimo mini antenna. They located the different antennas' / substations close to me. My speeds have been download 180 to above 300, upload 31 to above 50, depending on time of day. I still need to change the mini's direction to the closer antenna's, but the streaming devices work as good as the Spectrum wired signal. My desktop is a bit slower, but good for me. I did run a Cat 6 cable 20 feet from the upstairs antenna to the internal box inside our bedroom closet. My other info is 4LTE b2= -88 to -90 rsrp -10 or -12 rsrq, sinr 3 or 4. 5G n41 -88 to -91 rsrp, , -10 rsrq, 16 to 18 sinr. If you have any suggestions to make the desktop faster, I'll give them a try. I can mount the mini antenna outside the upstairs window with the window cable, but T Mobile recommended moving the antenna inside the upstairs room first.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 5 ай бұрын
Great data from the field. It is always good to see. Now for the desktop speeds::: My guess is that something in your network is causing the slow down. Cat5e cable is all you need an 60ft is no issue. So what else is there? Do you have a hub? Is it old? Perhaps it is 10/100Mbps. How about the PC? Sometime older NIC (network interface cards) that is 10/100. Either one would slow you down to about 90Mbps.

Sadly no. They get the one that is available. The good news is that they are all about the same. There is a new one called the Arcadian G4AR (white) and it has external antenna ports, but you still need to get an external antenna. www.t-mobile.com/support/home-internet/5g-gateway-g4ar Everyone is trying to get that one and it is available for possible trouble spots only. While neat, there are other 3rd party solution that bring your modem further outside and are powered over Ethernet. Solutions like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/foaahYRvbMipb9U that are about the same price as an external antenna and get even more 5G signals and allow two 5G bands to be aggregated together instead of riding on top of 4GLTE. I have a new one coming that I am really excited about. Favorite my channel and you will see it pop up.

Thanks for the tip about the HINT app. Just received my T-Mobile 5G Home Internet gateway a few days ago. Unfortunately no matter where I put the gateway within the house, my numbers are around -110 RSRP with the b2 band and -98 with the n41 band. The signal goes from weak to every now and then good on the gateway. Any tips/hints on getting a better signal? I do have a 3 mesh system but signed up to KZbin TV last evening and it was jittery from time to time and unwatchable at other times.

I know this issue very well. Some people are born with good looks and good signal, the rest of us have to work at it. Here is my new favorite solution, it is an outdoor antenna with the modem built inside. It acts as a modem only which means that I can use my mesh system and not fall into a double NAT scenario. I still have the original gateway but I think I know why yours were dying; they were getting too hot. Instead of using these gateways as a gateway, I have turned to using it as a modem. This allowed me to use a better access point and remove the source of heat that was causing them to die. Mine goes faster than ever now and it is a great service... just a crummy gateway. I have since reviewed several alternative gateways and even found a way to get the card to transfer units from one device to the other. Jump in the water is fine. 😄

Super nice video. I have the nokia from tmobile and it only locks to n41. Gives me around 300-350mbps down & 25up on a busy evening. Playing with my galaxy s21 and an app, I learned that, just like you, best speeds for me are NSA B66 & B2. They give me 400-430mbps inside my building, 550-570mbps in the parking lot 15ft away. What I like about B66 NSA, is the uploads. 55-65 Mbps up inside and it hit 90mbps up in the parking lot. Much better than the 25-30 that n41 SA can do So none of these tmobile home internet devices use NSA? If so, seems like getting one loke yeacomm might be worthwhile to use those NSA bands and speeds
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 Жыл бұрын
Great. Seems like you really know what you are getting into. Just one quick correction (if I may) is the 5G NSA means that it is 5G but based off of a 4G Lte primary signal so n41 + B66 or B2 is an example of 5G NSA which is all the gateways from T-Mobile will currently do. 5G SA is the next level, that means aggregating two 5G signals, like n41 and n25 together. This is currently what I am using with the InvisaGig modem. It has the same kind of effect on solid uploads. I am currently getting 600Mbps down and 100Mbps up and it allows me to pass through a single MAC address for better discovery outside. I am currently passing through my router and getting my PLEX to work outside my network!!! Thanks for commenting and for digging in on this so deep. You are right about the Yeacomm. It can support 5G SA too!!!
@PiterStreak
@PiterStreak Жыл бұрын
@@PeterC408 so the current home devices can do 5G NSA. Guess it just picks and stays on N41 then because I have never gotten the 600+Mbps I have seen on my phone when it does connect to 5G NSA. My phone (galaxy s21 ultra) tends to default to N41 at my home. It'll connect to b2+N41 for a few minutes after cycling the airplane mode before just landing on n41.super cool to learn all this stuff. Thanks for the reply, the great videos and charisma!

Spectrum consistently disconnects us and we're probably going to make the switch to Tmobile since we don't have fiber available. But quick question, my 4g lte signal on my cell phone is -110 dBm and 34 asu. Does this necessarily mean the 5g signal would roughly be the same?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 Жыл бұрын
Your phone is a $900+ modem, so it is a very good indicator of what your home experience might be like. Getting an external antenna is like getting on your rooftop with your phone but now many radios can even do better by aggregating two or more bands together.

Thanks for your videos they are really helpful. I have had the Arcadyan KVD21 for 8 months with no issues. The last few weeks my modem is stuck on 4k with the band b71. I cannot get a 5g signal and have called T-Mobile numerous times but keep getting the working on the towers excuse. Is it possible that the modem has malfunctioned or could it be they have just throttled me down to LTE only? I have the option of trading this one in for the Sagecom 5588w...do you think I should do that?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 11 ай бұрын
Anything is possible but it is more possible that they are working on your tower. The Sagemcom is not a great gateway either, none of them are. The signals you want live outside. If you are picking up b71, that is an XR (eXtended Range). It means that they are seeing more power from XR than UC. You either need a better signal or the ability to channel lock. I would recommend unplugging the gateway and waiting 15 minutes... plug in again and see what you get. Also, what are your scores RSRP, RSRQ, SiNR? Can they be improved? Here is a unit that does a great job because it lives outdoors. You can run it up to 300ft! kzbin.info/www/bejne/foaahYRvbMipb9U This would give you better signal, the ability to channel lock and 5G SA. The Arcadyan KVD21 gets 5G NSA n71, n66 adn n41. This one get so many more and you can band lock!

I hope this solves the problem but we will see. We have loved using T-Mobile for our phones and internet up until now. We don't want to leave them especially with us paying 25 dollars a month for wi-fi/internet and the locked in price that can't go up. It is a shame because the tower is right outside across the street where you can see it so unless we are being throttled I don't understand what the issue is. Thanks for your advice.

PING is the measure of responsiveness of your network to a particular server. Gaming servers are generally not on T-Mobile, so they need to go to an IXP (internet exchange point) to be rerouted. Sometimes it can be better to VPN to an IXP location, so that you can maintain connection to the IXP and your packet times will actually get faster. Use a light VPN like wireguard protocol.

What are MS issues? Microsoft? Those are normal 😀 As for band selection, many pieces of hardware select bands based on RSRP (power) which is a horrible metric. This can bet you stuck with a band with much less bandwidth, just because of a slightly better power score. n71 is 600Mhz and is usually to be avoided but if you are only getting 55% signal, you might want to switch. My Yeacomm NR330 allows bands to be selected and locked, so that makes me think that the hardware and firmware are much different. On 4G, I usually stick to bands b2, b66 because they have the most bandwidth. Where are you located?

@PeterC408
@PeterC408 9 ай бұрын
The speed of operation can be affected by a variety of factors. CPUs, OS, WiFi version, etc. If your machine is older, try to run an Ethernet cord to the unit... but 150Mbps is not bad for an older machine. We were using ISDN lines just a few years ago. When I was a student, our university had a T3 line dedicated to just our school. That was amazing! It was as fast as NASA. T3 is only 43Mbps!!! Slow is relative. I don't use the internal WiFi but instead hook it to a Netgear Orbi MESH system, so the whole house gets good wifi. I get 230Mbps even on the furthest toilet. 🤓

I have the white gateway from T-Mobile for a week. I added the mimo 4x4 mini antenna upstairs and directed it to the best signal. I have b2= rsrp -96 rsrq -10 sinr 7, n41 rsrp -98 rsrq -10 sinr 18 ( but sometimes goes to 16). My question is would a different waveform antenna improve my signal?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 6 ай бұрын
Yes, but if you're antenna is already outside, perhaps only marginally. That mini antenna when mounted outside did an amazing job. Both and 41 and B2 are high enough in the spectrum that this small antenna should do a great job. Note: On that white unit you need to change the firmware to activate the external SMA connectors. It is set to internal antenna by default.

@@Speedy251 The problem is the window. Have you ever been in traffic and heard someone else's stereo? All you hear is the bass. Low frequencies penetrate objects and travel very far. Higher frequencies are blocked by even windows. Add to that many modern windows have a tint on them that actually blocks UV and this really hurts reception. I would try like hell to get it outside.

My 5g on the n41 band are RSRP -73 RSRQ -11 SiNR 40 which are very good and my LTE on the b66 band are RSRP -78 RSRP -9 but my SiNR is 6 or less, sometimes in the negative numbers. Is this a problem as I am always on the 5g network?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 7 ай бұрын
The Bands and 5G signals seem pretty good. With 5G NSA, 4GLTE is your primary signal so the fluctuating SiNR on 4G is strange. Is it possible that you are near a powerline or on a circuit with a heavy duty cycle. I switched to 5G SA using my own modem and use an outdoor antenna to get a clean signal. I am now pulling two 5G signals and getting really good upload and download. See this video to see what I am running right now kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3yrdJ2uoq51l8U

So, when you mentioned swapping the antenna pairs, can you do it with the device on? Also do you swap all of them to different positions or only by pairs? So 1234 could be only 4321, 3412? Or could it be anything? Thanks so much.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 Жыл бұрын
Glad that you asked. What I mean is keep track of the pairs so 1&2 go together and 3&4 go together. Swap the leads to that 3&4 are on the first pair and 1&2 are the second pair. Also, within that pair, swap the positions of 1&2 so that it is 2&1 and look at your scores (do a speed test even). Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for things to settle... but do the same with 3&4 so that they are 4&3... It is kind of like going to the optometrist and they keep asking "which is better, this one or .... this one..?" You should quickly have discovered one is a clear winner.

That could be the wrong conclusion. Placement is key. You are trying to receive an outdoor signal with an indoor antenna. Have you tried another location? The frustration that I had initially was caused by my desire to place it in the center of my home for the best WiFi reception. You can't do that. If you have a full size house, you will still need big-boy WiFi (Mesh system). I use this device as a modem only, it runs better that way too. I then graduated to an external antenna and have had over 500Mbps down / 100Mbps up for going on 3 years!

Verizon is a great service, if you can get it. See they bought the wrong frequencies from the FCC. They spent $54B buying up frequencies that look great for marketing number (fast) but forgot about coverage. TMobile ate their frigging lunch by spending $9B and purchasing less desirable mid band frequencies to cover the USA. The pulled a fast one by aggregating two frequencies to get the coverage and build back the speed. I get gigabit speeds and I live in Silicon Valley but Verizon, I can't get. Lame. Sorry. #Next_Blockbuster.

Yes, I touched upon that in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/kITafWZ6at6eZ9k. Even though you have locked into a better band , T-mobile is currently assigning resources to artificially favor the more popular n71. It will most likely solve itself in the future, thus the desire to band-lock.

No argument that it is out, but n25 is currently assigned less resources than n71!!! That's right a 600MHz carrier is out performing a 1900MHz carrier. That is not right but it is TMobile's decision how to apply resources. There is more to this than simply wanting to go faster or getting your best signal. Band locking is becoming increasingly critical.

@PeterC408
@PeterC408 7 ай бұрын
Yes and it isn't just because your phone is a $1200 radio but it also has to do with PRIORITY. T-Mobile is a phone network, first and foremost. They want/need to make that top priority. Home Internet is a secondary market where they sell additional bandwidth, when and where it exists. To safeguard the phone experience they have created priority levels. Let's be frank, no one is going to download 2TB on their phone, there is no storage to support that, so they let them go hog wild on a speed test. If you are getting good speeds and good signal at home, that is great. If you want better priority, get a business line, that is the next level up but still not phone level, it's a phone network.
