By the way Sir what will be a good alternative to recreate Ring Light if one does not have one, and is placecing 2 lights at lens level a good alternative?

The Eiffel Tower shot, (which IMO is such a tourist candid shot) compared to that "sheet shot" which is such a nice shot, (shame on you keeping that one almost hidden for us) are such ultimate opposites. Love the ring-light against the black wall. Great video, since Bec likes the ring light so much , let's call it a Bec-light so things can become really confusing using a back-light too hehehehe And again, thanks for sharing !!

Many thanks for this new backstage session, I didn’t expect to have a new video so quick, to be honest. This is great! I will need to review the notifications for KZbin in my smartphone, I should have been told much earlier about this video. - @Bec: It is always a pleasure to see you as a Model, that you are happy and you can laugh. I like a lot your high heels because it emphasises your vertical silhouette. You cannot image the envy I feel when you mention workshops, knowing that you will be a Model for the photographers that will attend them. - @Peter: I didn’t know about this king of flash, it is very good. It really remarks the body, face and hair features. In some way, it produces a 3D effect. From the 4 options (3 against the white wall, and 1 against the dark wall) I prefer the one where the Model is away from the wall with flashes behind in both sides that eliminates the halo. In any case, all these 4 options provide really good lighting effects against the Model because it marks very well her body, - @Bec: I would like to know how flashes impact modelling. Is this something that help Model to pose? Or the other way around? What are the flashes that Models like the most, and hate the most? Is it annoying because it can blind you? Could you please include the answer in one of the podcast sessions? - @Peter: I know this session is about flash, but I like a lot the image when the Model has black eyes (when she is looking at the screen) at 2:03 and 5:59. They are really good images. I usually like when a Models looks at the computer’s screen or at the camera’s display because they express hope, but in this case what brings a lot my attention is the black eyes, specially the eye that dissipates into the black hair. - @Peter: I don’t know how this is seen in photography but I like a lot the white lighted areas between the parts of the body, for example between the arm and the waist at 10:53 - @Peter: I also like a lot the pose when the arm is touching the thigh, with the skirt a little bit rised and the silhoutte a little bit bent at 2:43. I am aware this session is not about posing. But I cannot ignore this pose. - @Bec: I don’t understand why you say you don’t like you poses, they are really good. I like them a lot. You bend the body very good. The pose that looks like you are half-sit on a high chair is really good (e.g. 4:43-4:45). - @Bec: Very funny the picture with the Tour Eiffel behind, it looks like you are challenging it. - @Peter: I know it sounds strange but I like a lot the image at 7:06 where the Model is not focused. I don’t know why I like it. The Models seems to be part of my imagination, someone that is not real. I think what we keep in our mind is blurred. It is a kind of fuzzy memories. - @Peter: It is good to see the Model from other angles, not just frontal, for example at 9:15 - @Ana: Many thanks for supporting this session, by recording with the video camera.

Been meaning to ask for ever: When shooting a model in B&W (in this case against white bg in a black dress) what does fiddling with the green channel do? I get the red, I get the yellow, but green?

Because when you move the green channel slider it makes the luminosity of everything red or green in the picture go lighter or darker

Peter, if you and Bec haven't already done a video of a fashion shoot using just an Iphone for your camera and available light. Your equipment is very expensive and out of reach of most folks, but virtually everyone uses a phone as a camera and can get some really great pictures if shown how to do it correctly.
@PeterCoulsonPhotographer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Earls we could do that but I don't know what it will achieve, if the lighting is really nice and the models looking amazing it doesn't matter what can we you have in your hand. Check out Nick Knight and his flower photos all shot on an iPhone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKfEhmqoqbtsgqs

@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Hello Peter, excellent vids as always. I want to chime in here since I too use the Broncolor Ringflash. The ring flash will indeed leave a very distinct ring in the eyes of the subject when the subject close enough, and like the halo effect - the result is something that some photographers like and others dislike. The reflector that you're using on the ringflash is often used up close to the subject as well. Keep up the great work!
