On our farm in Ohio in the 80s, we had a HUGE satellite dish. Much larger than the standard mesh kind, the folks we bought the place from had it custom made and they had a top-of-the-line receiver and electronics to go with it. This was when there were no passwords or codes needed. Everything was still free. We loved to watch the wild feeds. We saw many regular shows that sent syndicated episodes to their stations up to two weeks ahead of when they were going to be broadcast, much to the chagrin of our friends (Babylon 5 in particular. Once we forgot to set the time up on our Betamax, so we missed the feed. There was a phone number to call if there were any problems, we decided to call it and ask if they were going to retransmit the feed. The guy on the phone was wonderful. He said he could resend it in about 30 minutes, no problem. We didn't mention we weren't a TV station LOL) We had a great time watching the Arabian horse races in Dubai (we had and still have Arabian horses) and the local soap operas. It was hysterical because they just had one Betacam and when the actors got away from it, the audio disappeared. We also liked the news feeds that were not edited. The big earthquake in Northridge Calif. was the source of some pretty gruesome video sadly. It was also a blast to watch Vin Scully speak directly to us...the satellite fans...during commercials in LA during baseball games. He would set up contests (with an email address) while the camera guys would participate as well. We really miss having that dish. One of our big trees kinda made it hard to get one of the HBO channels in summer. It was so big we had to have a support brace that was imbedded in concrete. I saw your story on CNN, and was so happy to find you. We KNOW how amazing it is having one of these wonderful devices! We would have plenty of room for one here in the Wild West where we live on our little ranch. I bet they still have that crazy channel in Dubai! Please see if you can find it! They also had camel races, and they ran in the desert for at least10 miles with little kids as jockeys. The rich Arabs drove their 4WDs to follow the action. It never gets old LOL! 🤠🐴🌝🎬🎥🖖❤
@peterfairlie22963 ай бұрын
I setup my C-band antenna just 3 years ago. C-band is still rich in broadcaster feeds which most people are unaware or. The programming syndication still exists! Occasional sports feeds is what I like and every NFL game is up there. The quality of the broadcaster feed directly from the stadium is as good as it gets! Even with all the fiber connectivity these days, satellite is still used as an alternative backup path.

The puppet cartoon is very surreal. A few lessons for the children watching: 1. You may be strong as an individual, but your strength is nothing compared to that of the State. 2. Before you unwisely decide to not go along with the program, beware that your name is already on a list and you WILL be pursued. 3. If however you do go along with the program, you will be a hero and emit holy light while angelic spirits with machine guns will protect you. 4. Death is a probable outcome of not going along with the program, so you may as well fall in line now.

Very interesting: 2 things, visuals and dialects. The visuals in N Korea are dynamic, people are yelling, music is exciting, visuals and text pop up on screen in italics and constantly in motion, all to show their country is strong & vivacious. Vietnam has this kind of artwork, as does Russia, both communist countries. The S & N Korean dialects are so different. While S Korea’s is sorta delicate & “whiny” with a rising intonation for almost every sentence, N Korea’s is very forceful and Russian or China-like. It has like an energy that shows no weakness and every sentence is quick and “punchy”.

It is insane to me that lots of the news segments are told through the reporters and an illustrated image or animation. We take the freedom to question information/the truth for granted sometimes. This news is like shoving a beautiful picture in someone’s face and telling them, that is what the world around you is like, and them believing in without question.

What is the quality of your video? It was very good and I was impressed. I want the next 9.9 National Foundation Day performance to be delivered in high quality. I'm rooting for you.

That sounds like some good content on 9.9. The following month is the Party Foundation Day on October 10 which should be good too.

My favorite part is when the young guy hugs the giant fish during the yelling communist news update. He looks so happy!
