Peter, can I offer you to translate these videos? I’m Korean (born&raised) and I’m perfectly fluent in English. Idk, I feel like these videos will be even more interesting with English subtitles available. I wish more people could understand the crazy things they’re saying 😂
@GeneralissimoOfMedici3 ай бұрын
I sometimes check the KCNA's and Voice of Korea's websites which have English and French language support which I understand So I definitely have an idea of what they're saying, it's all things like "Our beloved father KJU", "Our great and glorious leader KJU", "Our fatherly and benevolent General Secretary of the WPK", etc... I was always fascinated by North Korean media and how they portray stuff so yea

@@GeneralissimoOfMedici Yeah but most people aren't familiar with these videos and it doesn't hurt to know what they're actually saying
@신효린-i5m3 ай бұрын
Also some explanations in this video are wrong like the 'war remembrance' part is not about war even though it may seem like that, it's talking about the 'accomplishments' Kim Il-Sung(Kim Jung-un's father) like building the 'Vinalon' factory, 'The birth of the juche textile industry' blahblah *Vinalon is basically vinylon, it's like an organic textile *'juche textile' is part of Kim Il-Sung's 'Juche ideology', but it's complicated so I won't explain further Anyway I'm basically just bummed there aren't English subtitles lol

i m Romanian and 60 yo, and i was in my 20s during the communist era in my country. This reminds me strongly of the last decade under the communist regime, when we only had 2 hours a day of TV, mostly news about our leader (Ceausescu) and boring communist movies.Same type of military music and grandiosity. It all ended in 1989 with the Romanian revolution when Ceausescu and his wife were shot to death and new power took over.
@anniesimone3 ай бұрын
@@dumitriudaniela Wow, you've really been through it all, extreme communism going to commersialism and western world lifestyle. Although I understand the days back then were tough, the journey must have been interesting doing, the adaptation, the opportunities that comes along and the ability making choices of your own (with that comes of course, making the right choices, and the privilege having so many choices it could actually be hard to choose at times..)
@dumitriudaniela3 ай бұрын
@@anniesimone thank you. The journey from communism to today was not that hard in terms of living. but i know many others had really tough lives then because they have been chased by the Communist Party for their political views and imprisoned. All the best to you.

I was born in Bucharest in 1975, I remember the communist period well, I don't miss it, I don't miss hunger, I don't miss the gray landscape and the misery, I only miss the fact that I was innocent child
@dumitriudaniela3 ай бұрын
@@haberini old Bucharest was completely different before 1977 when the major earthquake happened. It was not gray, there were lots of beautiful historic buildings that were later destroyed by the earthquake or demolished by Ceausescu (after 1980, to build new communist blocks and the subway), there were tons of food from all over the world and in the markets, lots of western foreign clothes and cosmetics in the shops and there were also many many foreigners visiting, especially in the summer season. The seaside cities were full of them as well as central hotels in Bucharest. After 1977 Ceausescu started cutting off the food (installing rations), limiting imports, etc, because the earthquake destroyed lots of buildings that needed to be rebuilt and the economy went downhill due to the lack of money. This is when the communist madness started aggressively and it culminated with his death. But i also heard from my mother that some of the most terrible communist moments were lived during the 1950s when Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej was the leader (before Ceausescu).

When I skipped to the section about the flood relief, at first I was laughing. Kim's shuffling around in some gazebo so drunk he can't take his hand off a railing or pillar, gesturing wildly at nothing while everyone acts amazed at his wisdom. He can't even keep up appearances and collapses into a folding chair but doesn't stop delivering his sermons. But when he got to the relief camp I got so angry. I'm not somebody who thinks that liberty and democracy has to be the way of the whole world. It's a big world. There's lots of ways of doing things, and who am I to say my way is right? To see that self-absorbed tub of lard sit next to those windworn people who only know an honest day's work that brings them barely enough to fill their bellies and pat himself on the back for giving them snack food and kids' dresses made me feel a righteous anger I don't usually feel. And I can't do anything about it. These people deserve better. I hope that the people of North Korea can find better lives, and that the rest of the world can help them find it.

I mean look at him, he doesn't even bother to put those kids on his lap, even smooching them and handing them gifts like food and clothes.
