First thought when I saw this vid pop into my feed was the damned fine scotch they make in Aberlour. Then I wrote this comment and halfway through realised I’d misread Aberdour. And so now all I have to offer is that I wonder if there's a historical link between the Celtic languages of Welsh and Scots Gaelic, for in the latter, the UK contingent may well have heard of Aberdare, Abertillery, Aberystwyth, and knowing that 'Aber' in Welsh denotes adjacency to, or having flowing right through it, a river. For Aberdare, that’d be the River 'Dare', for Abertillery the River 'Tillery' and you get the idea, so on and so forth. So, does the prefix 'Aber' have a water-related root in Scots Gaelic? I feel we should be told, in the interests of transparency.
