@@poinky8 then again i must stress im not one for seeing "SeXiSm", "rAcIsM", "hOmophoBiA" as too far - the jokes about them that is, not the institutional discrimination (not that i should have to clarify as that isnt remotely dark humour but its what the original commenter referenced). All that is way blown up, that all just comes under "light hearted banter", "making fun" etc, making fun of the shape of someones nose is only the same as the colour of someones hair, or their gender but if it involves a historically institutionally oppressed group u cant joke around or poke fun🙄. I was particularly referencing only jokes about the much bigger things involving death or illness - tbf tho again theres exceptions with a lot of this, if the person is/was bad enough or if ur not being too offensive but way too much of it is far too insensitive and if it affects decent people who its aimed at/people close to the person its aimed at, it aint right.

I live on the other side of the world in the southern hemisphere....but the NW of England is still dear to me.... Nothing better than Peter Kay to bring all my memories back...... I come here, when I'm a bit down, and I am instantly transported back to the land of my youth. The best years of my life. He talks of "my time" and even times long after "my time" but they resonate equally.... nothing much has changed...that is the beauty of folk. Good honest English people...salt of the earth.... (And before anyone says otherwise: We slaved, and got nowt but hardship for centuries, long after slavery was abolished .. There will be no apologies from me. )

@@vkjfv why do people always say this? The only people who get 'cancelled' are actual criminals, I can't think of a single example of a comedian's career that has ended as a result of their material unless they're saying something outright racist. Peter Kay will be absolutely fine.

@@WanderingChin The cancel culture in a new phenomenon look at back lash Ricky gervais gets or Chappell. @@vkjfv but none of them have been 'cancelled'. They're all still touring. I think the entire argument around this has been blown out of proportion. The media always make headlines by saying "people on Twitter watch old programme and are offended". But that's been a thing ever since humans have been consuming media, people were 'offended' by Shakespeare when the plays were open to the public. Don't let the minority of a few internet weirdos ruin your enjoyment of a comedian, either laugh at it on it's own merit or just ignore the online discourse.

Same as me, but I'm from Dublin 🇮🇪... Holidays in Blackpool...when we would leave of course my mam was hoovering out the door! 😂 She was the touchiest woman alive thhe day before we left! Everything was an emergency...we'd be out to the ferry and excited and singing songs... Whhen we got to the ferry it was time to break out Mam's sausage sambos, these Capri Sun juice things called Amigos, these wafer bars called Touch Down and a bag of Manhattan popcorn.... I'd always try sleep in the car but you just can't when it's so exciting on holiday. Id be fascinated with the place going by... Id love stopping in motorway services.... Oh damn I just remembered The Little Chef! That was a holiday treat for sure... Then being in glitzy Blackpool... The lights and Tower and whole buzz about it...all those hours spent in arcades, waiting for a turn on Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat while me mam got her plastic flowerpot of 2ps and played the one where you drop coins to be pushed over... Step dad thinking he's about to clean out the prizes with his dart skills or something and getting nothing then giving out how it's all fixed... The big sticks of rock and watching them being made... Smell of popcorn and candyfloss... The fish n chips... As soon as it got dark... Wow... I have such good memories of going down the sea front at night on the way to a show and I'd gotten some figures I couldn't get at home, a month left of holiday and a trip to a play centre the next day... Life seemed so great! We'd see something like Cannon and Ball or the Grumbleweeds and some other like family friendly music/comedy shows, excitement over crisps and chocolate you couldn't get in Ireland...i brought back a big bag of stuff from England and the boat... There was no Argos or C&A, BHS, Woolworths and Marks and Sparks over there at the time(me mam has worked for M&S since 94 though!) so we would be dragged around shops for hours...she would spend the whole day going from placeto place dressing us for the whole year as we sweated in the heat and tried not to complain too much or we would get an angry hiss to be quiet! Bless me mam... Shed get lots of our Christmas toys in Argos or Toys R Us in August because you just couldn't get them at home. We didn't get much during the year but she spoiled us at Christmas. When there was a year like say when the Turtles came out and nobody could get them... I had EVERY single main character because she had bought them in England months before. I've amazing memories of Blackpool and a coach trip to a market and shows and sticks of rock and holiday 'girlfriends' and the fun on the boat...driving from the ferry... Went to France camping and Euro Disney when I was 13 and it was EXACTLY like he says! 😂 😂 😂 My step dad couldn't bloody believe the food... And things like espresso, croissants, continental brekkies and any meal that wasn't with chips or mash just baffled him! 😂 I remember going to a big hypermarket called E LeClerc or something and getting big boxes of haribo and all kinds of awesome French chocolate...we got a big bar of Cadbury and marvelled at the different language on the wrapping and the same taste! 😂 Damn sorry for the rant! Just wish I could go back for a day every time I hear Peter or read great comments like yours!

Totally relate to going back to school and the school trips. Why did the teachers wear denim? I was always the lonely kid without a partner. Let down every trip. Often people asked if they could be with me for the day, then on the day they fucked off with someone else. Probably was influenced by the class bullies. I hated school.

It could be because I'm northern but the reason Kay is so hilarious, he describes my childhood on a council estate , plus me mam is Irish and she also said tea cools you down , and me mam and granny also said " guess whose dead "
